Don’t remember who said it but talk of “our sacred democracy”, attacks on our “temple of democracy” and so forth are profoundly dangerous.

Democracy is spoken of as if it is a deity of some type.

Fighting and killing for this deity is something put forth as an obligation for the American people.

Which really doesn’t make us that different than jihadis, after all do they not also fight and kill for their deity?

That’s why we aren’t a democracy but a Republic.

Can you imagine, if Washington was presented with a modern high-powered rifle and was asked what he thought of it -- should it be legal for American citizens to keep and bear such "dangerous" arms. Would he shrink back in horror and ban its ownership?
