The renewable green energy disaster off the northeastern US is getting worse

Aslow-motion collapse in the offshore wind industry continues to grow as sticky inflation and supply chain challenges force developers to delay or cancel major projects. In particular, progress towards the Biden administration’s goal of building large amounts of floating wind off the northeastern US coast is just about stalled.

Shell, which invested in a series of offshore wind projects in recent years, including offshore the northeastern United States, announced last week it would lay off much of its offshore wind business staff as the oil giant advances its program of refocusing on its core oil and gas business.

“We are concentrating on select markets and segments to deliver the most value for our investors and customers,” a Shell spokesperson told Bloomberg. “Shell is looking at how it can continue to compete for offshore wind projects in priority markets while maintaining our focus on performance, discipline and simplification.”

Repeated glances at NWS wind forecasts would have indicated the stupidity of offshore wind utilization for the NE US.

The wind is too variable in terms of intensity and location.

Joe Biden has been touting "wind". But I would not trust him if he were touting Depends™, and that's his only area of expertise.

Shell’s nuanced double speak is classic. They must have hired mouthpieces from the DNC.

It will sure be upsetting to watch them freeze.

Green energy was a globalist/statist plan which only was born in the environment of zero interest-rates, total American hegemony, open global trade lanes, ability to grow government debt without question, a complacent China, world peace, and low inflation

All those things have reversed

The green-energy grift is mortally wounded.

Renewable energy is unworkable in most of the Northeast.

Not enough recoverable solar energy and not enough sources for good wind resources.

The wind of the coast of Massachusetts is roaring along at 4 mph right now.

This should be plenty to power the entire northeast.

All you have to do is believe and your (green) dreams will come true.

More like never.

The practical life span of solar is 20 years but the hard winters are really hard on solar cells so probably less.

“A 2023 Department of Energy fact sheet sets the administration’s goal of installing 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 for the US alone, exceeding Westwood’s just estimated potential for GLOBAL new capacity by that year by a factor of 10 times over. “

that’s still WAY better results than only 7 of 500,000 promised EV charging stations being built ...

We have wind records dating back to the Mayflower yet Shell’s crackerjack scientists thought that the data was erong and “Build Baby Build”. Hope those scientists aren’t doing the analysis of carbon footprint redo. Should br great! USA on solar and stuck in the mud. China, India and Russia on oil, gas, coal snd nuclear dominating the world. USA? A thid world country in full decline.

The fed could save time. Just print the money for these programs directly into a shredder.
