Okay, the headline leads the reader to believe that 10,000 skeletons were recovered, But then reading the article it was 10,000 skeletal items were found.

There are 206 bones in the human body. Thus, there are bones for 48. 5 complete bodies. Now that is still excessive, but a far cry from the 10,000 the article headline baits one with.
