A final pro-life activist was sentenced on Friday to years in prison for protesting at an abortion clinic infamous for late-term abortions in Washington, DC.
Paulette Harlow, 75, was sentenced to 24 months in prison for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and “conspiracy against rights” for the 2020 protest at the Washington Surgi-Clinic, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). She is the ninth and final activist to be sentenced within the past few weeks for the protest.
Unlike her co-defendants — who sat in jail for months awaiting sentencing — Harlow has been on house arrest due to her ill health, according to Live Action News, the online news outlet for the pro-life organization Live Action.

I’m a little fuzzy on the facts. Were those convicted actually in the lobby/on the property of the clinics, or were they on the public sidewalk?
Prosecutors argued that the activists organized a blockade and used chains and locks to barricade the abortion clinic. In the process, prosecutors alleged that a nurse was injured and women were unable to access the clinic through the front entrance.
“Some simply kneeled and prayed at Santangelo’s facility, some passed out pro-life literature and counseled abortion-minded women, and others roped and chained themselves together inside the facility,” according the Handy’s attorneys from the Thomas More Society, which has represented other pro-life activists like Mark Houck and David Daleiden.

If this is true, then she should be willing to accept her punishment.
If you break the law during your protest, then be prepared to accept the consequences. AGE doesn’t matter. Your health is no excuse either.
I am 100% pro life. Only exception is “the LIFE of the mother” if that is what she chooses.
You can “legally” protest at abortion clinics. Blocking the entrance and roping yourselves together in the lobby are not legal ways of doing it and they all KNEW THAT.
The punishment is arguably excessive.

Harlow is likely to soon be a martyr who gave her life protecting the unborn. She is given jail time, but those who looted and burned Minneapolis following George Floyd’s death have never come to justice. How like Nazi Germany where the Hitler Youth who perpetrated kristallnacht never faced punishment, but those passing out pamphlets critical of Hitler were quickly tried and executed.
Thanks for the information. My concern is anything done on private property without permission, whether my house or a private business is illegal. The law has to respect private property.
I 100% support any non-violent activity on public property.
