Keir Starmer announces plans to lower legal migration

Labour has announced its plans to reduce net migration - with Sir Keir Starmer accusing the Conservatives of having "repeatedly broken their promises" to get the number down.

It marks another attempt by the Labour Party to appeal to Conservative voters.

Figures published after Rishi Sunak called the general election showed a net of 685,000 arrived in the UK last year - down from a record of 764,000 in 2022.

The 2023 figure is still three times the number in 2019 when the last election took place. The Conservatives promised in their manifesto that year to get net migration down.

In 2012, when the data from the Office for National Statistics starts, net migration was just under 200,000.

Sir Keir said he wanted to see any government he leads ban "the practices employed by businesses who exploit the migration system by illegally undercutting working conditions".

All of the West needs to end all immigration, except for Western nations competing for Westerners among themselves, and a few scientists, exceptional brains etc. from any country.

Immigration to the West is conquest by foreign nations, first the West is overrun by the immigrating foreigners and eventually it will lead to conquest by the home countries of the largest population groups.

We already are seeing the early stages of this in America, Islam for example is a collective force that is moving in, it is not just individual immigrants, China and India, and in our case Mexico, are all willing to simply immigrationally conquer nations if they can get away with it.

Trust him or not, when the Tories promised to “stop the boats” they lied and came up with pathetic excuses about some bullshit “human rights” EU garbage.

If you believe in voting and representative government (I agree it’s a reach), then people who sit in government by repeatedly lying to their voters MUST get the chop or else the whole thing is just a charade.

The US GOP is on the same glide path to extinction as the UK Tories, and for the same reasons.

Good riddance.

Re: "Under UK Conservative government, immigration has more than tripled since they were elected in 2019."

Sounds a lot like Republicans in the USA.

Trump's flagship election issue was reducing massive legal and illegal immigration in 2015 and 2016.

In 2017, Trump never even mentioned immigration.

By 2018, 10 months before the mid-term, Ann Coulter publicly rebelled against Trump.

Coulter was instantly deported from the (alleged) Conservative wing of the Republican Party.

In 2017, 2018, and 2019 - before Covid - Trump naturalized more new citizens, Trump issued more Green Cards, and Trump issued more foreign work visas, than Obama did in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

If there are not significant real improvements in GOP voting by Black, Hispanic, and Asian voters, Trump will need at least 60% of the white vote in 2024, just to be competitive.

Trump got 58% of the white vote in 2020.

Yes.

UK Tories are so pathetic and corrupt with so many broken promises, that Starmer represents a move to the center.

Like when Chretien replaced Mulroney/Campbell. By almost any measure that was a turn to the centre as well, starting with less debt, less tax increases and less spending.

In addition, Muldoon doubled immigration levels from Trudeau 1.0, and Chretien stopped the process where fake “refugees” destroyed their id documents on the plane, claimed refugee status and were released on a “promise to appear”.

There was a euphoria when the Progressive Conservatives were totally destroyed, because it was justice and an appropriate outcome for betrayers and traitors.

The fact that Chretien was more conservative on almost any metric was just a bonus.

Interesting that both the Tories and the GOP are about to be flushed down the toilet like the Progressive Conservatives of yore - and for the same reason.

Too bad, so sad.

I don’t think the GOP are ready to get flushed yet.

There are too many GooberCons (including on FR, maybe especially on FR) who tell themselves:

“If Jeffries becomes Speaker we will LOSE THE COUNTRY !”

Still too many who believe no matter how bad the GOPe is, the Dems will be worse. They ignore the fact that all their doom laden scenarios for Dem majority, they could have done all that in 2001-2002 but didn’t.

So why not ?

Really big betrayals like massive Amnesty need Repubs as cover. Dems never do it on their own.

Great post.

So many people here are high on Trump winning more black votes.

A) Never happen; and B) if every 1% increase in black votes costs 1% or more white votes, it’s a disaster because so many more whites vote.

Very optimistic!
But why all Western countries, no matter which parties in power, allow unfettered illegal immigration is a puzzle
One possiblity is the population crash that’s coming and coming soon
But that’s only helps if BOTH sexes are coming and not just men of military age.
The other is more nefarious. The top 1%thinks they can indeed replace us with cheaper, easier led peoples.
Either one ain’t good for long term Western world
Heck, even China has a population implosion problem.

Islam for example is a collective force that is moving in

The numbers are not really there yet in the U.S. unlike in London or Paris but they are making their presence known. At the very least, we should revoke the visas for all foreign students getting involved in pro-Hamas protests at their universities.

When I think of some things such as immigration, I look at the future, Islam doesn’t have the numbers in America yet but there is no reason to think the legal type of mass immigration will change much in any substantial way, so what isn’t today, will be tomorrow.

In the meantime, there are little things that we can do. Why not restrict the number of student visas for foreign students? That won’t work because Elite Universities love the $$$ from foreign students and they tend to pay in full.

Many of us can name solutions but the challenge is winning the politics of it, the passing of the laws and rules, the unfortunate thing about immigration is that the longer it goes unstopped then the less likely it is to ever be stopped, immigration is one of those things that once the general core public finally sees it as destroying their nation and themselves, their culture and their communities, their laws and commonality, and even their religion forever, then it is too late.

America is a nation of immigrants. Up until 1950's or so, there was an expectation that our immigrants had to assimilate. And that was quite effective.

Now we are no longer expecting our immigrants to assimiliate.

This country was not created by immigrants and they didn’t start showing up in large numbers until generations later after our existing as a nation, centuries after the original British people moving to these British colonies.
