This is an interesting question.

Since Trump was convicted under New York STATE law why would guns in Florida (which is not subject to NYS law) have to be surrendered?

If this had been a Federal case, they he might have had to surrender his guns. But a different state? No standing! I guess the limitation is he can't own or carry guns in NY.

Maybe Don should offer the guns to Hunter Biden.....
after Hunter is found innocent of all gun charges.

Feds have prohibitions against felons having guns.

Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms; doesn’t have to be a federal felony.

I’m not arguing any of this is right, but that is my understanding of current law.

There are two laws prohibiting possession of firearms by felons. One is at the state level, the other is federal. That's why.
