Russia and North Korea Sign Mutual Defense Agreement

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Pyongyang, North Korea, for the first time since July 2000 and signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un that pledges mutual defense. Putin said of the agreement, “The comprehensive partnership agreement signed today provides, among other things, for mutual assistance in the event of aggression against one of the parties to this agreement.”
Russian state-owned news agency TASS reported:
The treaty will take interaction between the two countries “to a new level” rather than resting on laurels that already exist. The document “sets large-scale tasks and benchmarks for the long-term deepening of Russian-Korean relations.” This includes the political, trade and investment, cultural, humanitarian and security spheres. Among other things, the treaty provides for “mutual assistance in the event of aggression against one of the parties.

Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.
President Trump's sentencing is scheduled for July 11th, less than a month away. Of course, it is no secret why Judge Merchan decided on this particular date: it takes place four days before the Republican National Convention is set to begin, on July 15th.
The hope, naturally, is that Judge Merchan – in collusion with District Attorney Bragg and Joe Biden's Justice Department – will sentence President Trump, either by putting him behind bars or at the very least, on house arrest – thus denying him the opportunity to appear at the RNC in-person....

The Supreme Court will be releasing Opinions for the October 2023 this morning at 10:00. Attorneys at Scotusblog will be in the press room and will liveblog the opinions as they are released here

There are 23 cases remaining to have decisions released between now and the end of the month (I can recall one time when the term continued into the first week of July but that's not the norm).
For those keeping score, thus far Roberts has written 2 opinions; Thomas 6, Alito, 4, Kagan 4, Gorsuch 2, Kavanaugh 4, Sotomayor, 7, Barrett 3, and Jackson 4. (Two cases were per curiam)

Billboard in Miami comparing Trump to Fidel Castro earns rebuke from Cuban Americans

.....Amid the ongoing campaign for the 2024 U.S. presidential elections, a billboard in Miami has sparked significant controversy on social media. The advertisement, funded by the group Mad Dog PAC, displays an image of former President Donald Trump alongside the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro, with the message “No to Dictators, No to Trump.”
The comparison has outraged Trump supporters, who contend that it is inappropriate to equate the former Republican president with Fidel Castro. They argue that, unlike Castro who seized power through armed struggle, Trump was democratically elected by the citizens of the United States.
Although the creators of the billboard might have thought they were being clever using Fidel Castro as a wedge to break off Cuban American support for Trump, it has had the opposite effect. Not only will it fail in convincing Cuban Americans to vote for Biden, the billboard is deeply offensive. Despite decades of running headfirst into the same political wall, Florida Democrats still do not understand Cuban Americans and believe they are just a minority group that can be bullied and intimidated into submission.
And that’s just the minor insult of this offensive billboard. The most offensive part is that it shows once again that Democrats have no understanding and no sympathy for the suffering Cubans have endured under communism. Comparing a duly elected president to a self-appointed dictator who murdered thousands of men, women, and children and enslaved an entire nation is an insult to the Cuban American community and puts the tone deafness of Florida Democrats on full display.
