TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hopes to raise at least $10 million as part of a multistate fundraising swing for former President Donald Trump, a man he fought in a bitter primary race but with whom he has now found a cautious truce.
“I think we believe Biden needs to be beat, and the governor is willing to put the sword down,” a top DeSantis adviser said. “They have had several good conversations as recently as last week.”
The fundraising events will begin as soon as July and likely run through September, the DeSantis adviser said, with multiple events expected in Texas, California and Washington.
The plan is to tap into states where DeSantis already had substantial donor networks from his own presidential bid to be able to quickly raise cash for Trump.

I’m all for him being vp, though I never supported him for President, but how does that work when he and Trump are both from Florida?

Phone Transcript:
DeSantis: Remember when I was telling you about deceptions and you were telling me about the scammers. I should have listened to you. I was trying to teach you. But you were teaching me. And I didn't wise up. I made mistakes and I do things. You and me were supposed to be tight. You know. It bothers me.
Trump: Yeah.
DeSantis: So I know I made a few mistakes, but I would love to hang with you again. I swear it will just be me and you this time.
Trump: Home team?
DeSantis: Yeah, home team.
Trump: Ron, Welcome back onboard the Trump Train.

Someone has to move temporarily. Done many times. By Clinton’s included for Senate.
I’m all for him being vp,“
I don’t think helps the ticket. He only brings votes Trump gets already.
Trump may be residing in a New York jail, so it may be fine.
Frankly, I can’t see either one of them moving.
Melania can start shopping for houses in Texas. Trump said he wanted to retire there.
I could see her with a cowgirl hat. , fringed skirt and boots.
sounds helpful
I hope other GOP governors do the same.
He absolutely helps the ticket, especially in swing states.
If you happened to see Gov DeSantis debate the hapless Mr. Newsome, you saw just one facet of a remarkable asset is DeSantis.
DeSantis could be the UNITING draw that puts us over the top in the general election.
I am glad De Santis is where he is - he is needed in Florida. I’m sort of split on what should happen next. Should Trump step down with the cloud of criminality about him? Obviously De Santis has some political savvy and thinks Trump should go on.
Should Trump flee for Costa Rica? Or is it too late for that?
It’s sad how many people don’t know the constitution. Ron and Trump live in the same state. That is not going to work.

cbsnews.com -—— Biden’s reelection campaign says he raised over $90 million in March, $25 million more than the $66 million raised by former President Donald Trump and allies. And Mr. Biden’s cash-on-hand advantage over Mr. Trump grew even bigger last month. The Biden campaign says the president began April with $192 million in his coffers, which it says is the highest amount amassed by any Democratic candidate in history. By comparison, Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee announced Wednesday that they ended March with over $93 million cash on hand.
Mr. Biden and the Democratic National Committee now have $100 million more than Trump and the RNC’s shared cash on hand. In a press release, the Biden campaign noted the gap matches the cost of Trump’s legal bills he has paid since leaving office.
“It’s a stark contrast to Trump’s cash-strapped operation that is funneling the limited and billionaire-reliant funds it has to pay off his various legal fees,” Biden-Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement.
Mr. Biden’s $90 million in March easily surpasses numbers posted by past Democratic nominees in the same month: former Secretary of State and 2016 nominee Hillary Clinton raised just under $30 million in March of that year, while former President Barack Obama raised $53 million in March 2012.
The president’s high total came in a month where his campaign also dramatically ramped up its operation, with presidential visits to every battleground state after the State of the Union address. The campaign also added over 100 field offices and announced a $30 million ad buy spread across six weeks.
The Biden campaign, its joint fundraising committee the “Biden Victory Fund” and other allied groups have spent over $16 million on ads since Super Tuesday’s primary elections on March 5, and have $132 million reserved in ads through Election Day, according to advertisement tracking firm AdImpact. The firm also says by comparison in this same timeframe, only $3 million has been spent by Trump’s campaign and allies since super Tuesday.
Mr. Biden’s campaign released its total toplines the same day Mr. Trump is attending a Florida fundraiser where wealthy GOP donors are hoping to raise over $43 million. In addition to supporting his presidential campaign, contributions will also be directed into a political action committee handling most of Mr. Trump’s legal bills.
During a Friday call with bundlers, fundraisers who collect money from a network of contacts, Trump claimed he would “double” the $25 million raised by Mr. Biden’s New York City fundraiser during his Saturday gathering.

You are correct, except for one possibility. If Trump is in jail or is confined to house arrest in NYC, that becomes his state of residence, and then you don’t have the issue with the electoral college votes. Of course, Trump could also move his residency to another of his properties in a different state to avoid this issue as well. You might remember that Cheney did that so he could run as Bush43’s VP.
Good move.
It *may* help rehabilitate his reputation.
Maybe. We need someone who helps with the blasted women vote, always a problem.
Re both from Florida:
Does not matter anymore.
Rules are out the window after yesterday. And after Obunghole got selected.
