Attack on Russian radar is a significant escalation
Asia Times ^ | 5/29/24 | Stephen Bryen

On May 23 drones launched from Ukraine hit a Russian strategic radar station in Armavir, Russia. This is not the first time that nuclear facilities in Russia have been targeted and hit, but it represents a significant escalation that could trigger Russian retaliation on NATO suppliers or even a nuclear response by Russia. The core of Russian angst about Ukraine is that the country would become a NATO base for nuclear missiles.

It isn’t clear if the attack was entirely on Ukraine’s initiative or whether Ukraine’s NATO partners were involved.

The most reckless escalation of all. For what? These radars don’t even monitor Ukraine. This is how you have a total exchange, no tactical niceties run up.

Putin invaded Ukraine because he wants to reestablish the Soviet Union, or rather the Russian Empire. Ukrainians whose grandparents and great-grandparents died in the Holodomor want no part of the Russian Empire.

After KAL-007 the Russians were still smarting from the international black eye. They could easily have shot down Matias Rust.

I don’t see why NATO just accept eastern European counties as members under the condition that those countries would not be used as missile bases. It would destroy any argument Russia uses.

Russia isn’t worried about NATO attacking them for being peaceful and a good nation to do business with, Russia wants those countries, like they had them before they got away.

Hi delta7, still doing the gobnik in Saint Petersburg (not the one in Florida).

There's no Russian Derangement Syndrome here.

The only constant is; if Russian (or a Russian, thus you) says they will do something, they wont; if they say they wont do something, they will; and if they say they are not doing something, they currently are.

Remember to tell Oleg in the cubical next to yours his legs look good.

As usual the Zeepers are in full apologist mode for their fascist overlords and their violent aggression and escalation policies. The site targeted was irrelevant to the SMO, which raises the question of why the globalists are so interested in escalating tensions with Russia. It’s become a recurrent theme with the fascist western regimes.

“Russia wants those countries, like they had them before they got away.”

Total bull droppings. If that was the case they never would have let them go in 1991.

Russia collapsed, it was not planned or desired, once they let their grip loosen a tiny bit things then got away from them, that is why those days were so shocking and wild, it was a chaotic collapse.

The Soviet Union collapsed, of which Russia was the largest and dominant part so it’s mostly the same thing. I’m sure if the RSFSR wanted to keep them they would have done it. Stop trying to spin this. It’s silly. They don’t want those countries back. They’re just trying to snip off a few Russian inhabited border regions.
