Live thread [05/29/2024]: Trump show trial in New York, brought to you by Obama-Biden operative Matt Colangelo; post comments here

Prosecution closing arguments went on for hours and hours and hours. This must have irritated the heck out of the jury. Not a sign of confidence in their case. Jury instructions begin at 10 am ET. Thoughts?

It could cut either way. We’ll soon find out.

Yeah, I think the jury instructions are going to be pivotal. The defense needs to hold the judge’s feet to the fire.

While Chauvin was a complete sh8tshow, Trayvon and Rittenhouse were good signs that juries make their own decision.

The jury won’t hear the last of the guilty or else speech at least one of them is a lawyer (plant) to make sure the rigging is completed.

Returning a “wrong” verdict is subject to 10 years in prison.

Bottom line for me. God’s in control. EVEN if things go sour God will sort it all out. Fear not.

Excellent point. Even in the most politicized trials, justice can still prevail.

“I’m optimistic. Lawfare has been a dumpster fire for Democrats so far. Even in the worse case scenario (guilty verdict), it won’t make any difference. Voters have made their minds up — Biden must go, and they don’t give a rat’s ass about Stormy Daniels or this trial.”

I hope you’re right. As per usual, due to my ongoing paranoia... I try to prepare for and expect the worst... while hoping and praying for the best. My problem is.. I’ve been observing the leftist Democrats for decades now. And somehow, no matter how evil they started out, they always manage to get even more evil over time. It is stunning how brazen and bold they are ‘now’ with their banana republic-style leftism.

The O.J jury deliberated for less than 4 hours and the prosecution summation was 4 hours. The prosecution case was 7 weeks.

This was for double murder. This trial is a complete witch hunt and election interference. Nothing more.

Totally agree. The Trump Derangement syndrome is off the charts, utterly unhinged like nothing I’ve ever seen before in politics. They’re watching the same polls we are, and they are in an absolute panic. They put all their eggs in the lawfare basket, to no avail. They can’t move the needle because people can see right through this charade.

This is why I’m expecting guilty. If Trump were to be completely exonerated there is a chance he’d get a few weeks of good press out of it. We can’t have that. Guilty verdict might backfire on them but that’s still probably their best bet.

Usually, depending on the complexity of the case, a quick verdict would not be a good sign (guilty verdict). If deliberations extend for days, hung jury is the likeliest outcome.

I felt the same way about the OJ trial, when the jury came back after only 4 hours. I assumed he'd be found guilty (as he should have been) and we all were shocked at the verdict.

I think if there is a guilty verdict that there will be no jail time. Probation maybe and a huge fine. They won’t try to jail Trump on a ticky-tack charge like this and just want the Convicted Felon tag stuck on him. It’s about November, and only November.

The difference between an optimist and a pessimist is the optimist just doesn’t have all the facts...

One glimmer of hope. One of the jurist was noted the nod him head seemingly in agreement of Blanche when he was speaking.

I think the glove debacle sealed the deal. Cochran’s catchy slogan, “if the gloves don’t fit, you must acquit,” went viral instantly. That’s why I think Todd Blanche’s GLOAT nickname for Cohen was a stroke of pure genius.
