Premier Blaine Higgs is defending his decision to ban a sex education group from provincial schools despite acknowledging not having seen the entire presentation that provoked criticism from some parents.
Higgs told reporters Tuesday that he made the decision, announced in a message posted to the social media site X last Friday night, after being sent a screenshot from the presentation given in several schools last week.
"I was sent the presentation, the screen shot," he said, before correcting himself: "I was never sent the entire presentation."
Asked if his ban was based solely on the screenshot, Higgs said, "Next question?"
Higgs also would not say why his social media post directed readers to a survey on the issue on the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick website.
"Do you have another question?" Higgs said...
The 'screenshot' in question...
...Teresa Norris, the head of a charity called HPV Global Action, which operates a youth sexual education resource called Thirsty for the Talk, told CBC News on the weekend that schools receive an outline of the content in advance and must consent before the presentation.

This sort of material appears to be a bit too much info for children to be viewing.
Did kids get sex education from strangers in the in the early 1900s? 1940s? Look at a textbook from that era and you’ll be amazed at how bad it is today.
I remember having a film presented by a Medical Doctor, and parents having to sign a permission slip AND attend along with their kid. Public school in the 1960s.
Strictly segregated presentations - one just for boys and another for girls of course.
The kids whose parents didn’t sign or couldn’t attend had to go to study hall.
Way too much but of course CBC paints this guy as a Neanderthal because he didn’t watch all of it. I’ll bet they try to get this guy removed when he is exactly right.

...and the thing is, they still had kids back then. Seems like they didn’t need to be taught sex, at least in the schools.
Sex education should come from parents and not from groomers.
Every generation thinks THEY invented sex and attraction. Funny how people didn’t need a sex class from a school teacher back then.
And something else. A cold, clinical, this is named that, and this is called a whatever, and it can be pleasurable when you do this, make sure to get a signed consent form etc etc. That ruins things. Better to find out at the right age in the backseat at the drive in theater etc.
Progressives take the fun out of everything.
My sex ed lecture in the early 70’s....
“Girls keep your knees together. Guys keep your pant’s zipped. End of your sex ed lecture”
The Premier saw enough to make his decision.
You don’t need to smell s__t to know that it stinks.
The lack of objectivity in the headline, which is only carried further in the article, says a lot.
How Canada Devolved into a Managerial State
BRUCE PARDY MAY 30, 2024
Our mistake, over these centuries of reform, was that we did not go far enough.
We did not take power away from institutions to rule over us. Instead, we just moved the powers around.
Today, as in the days of kings, the law is based upon the authority of those who govern, not upon the consent of the governed.
