Poland’s Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, has signed a contract with the United States for the acquisition of several hundred AGM-158 JASSM-ER air-to-ground missiles.
This agreement on Tuesday marks another major procurement by the Ministry of National Defense. Just last week, Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz signed a $960 million contract for the delivery of four reconnaissance aerostats, equipped with advanced radar systems, under the “Barbara” program.
“A $735 million contract is being signed today. Another multi-million-dollar contract for the purchase of JASSM-ER air-to-ground missiles, which will be in the equipment of the Polish army,” said the Minister of National Defense.
“We already purchased missiles from this family in 2014 and 2018, which are already serving in the Polish army and are being used. (...) It will be several hundred air-to-ground missiles with a range of about a thousand kilometers,” he added.
The Minister also thanked U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Mark Brzezinski, for his steadfast support of Poland and his role in facilitating defense procurements from the United States.
JASSM-ER specs
The JASSM, developed by Lockheed Martin, is a cruise missile with a 370 km range, while its extended-range version, the JASSM-ER, has an approximate range of 1,000 km. Both versions are designed to strike high-value, well-protected, fixed, and mobile targets while avoiding heavily defended airspace and long-range surface-to-air missile threats.

That’s for the LRASM version, the anti ship missile.
That said, you don’t need a lot of these to make a big impact, because they almost always reach their target and hit big, and precisely.
