You know, I got interested in genetic genealogy about ten years ago, at first for my own family tree work (for which it was amazing).
But later, I read more broadly on the topic. All over the world, and for millenia, the pattern is the same. A stable genetic structure is disrupted by ingress of a new Y chromosome type, which beomes dominant quite quickly (hundreds of years), and then, sometimes, novel autosomal patterns appear - but not always.
In short, the history of mankind, from Mongolia to Namibia and from Central Asis to Brittany, from Iceland to Ireland - man's history is "kill the men, take the women".
