Yet another Republican U.S. senator has caught former President Donald Trump's eye as he searches for a ticketmate to replace former Vice President Mike Pence.
The New York Times reported Friday that Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton has jumped to the top of Trump's list.
The 47-year-old Arkansas Republican was elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.
The pick of Cotton would be unexpected because it would be bland.
Cotton joins other veepstakes contenders from the upper chamber including Sens. Marco Rubio, Tim Scott and J.D. Vance.
The presumptive Republican nominee is also considering North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who he brought to his recent mega-rally in Wildwood, New Jersey.
..
During an interview Thursday with News 12 Trump declined to name his top three VP picks.
'Well, we have so many, I don't want to do that,' the ex-president said after his rally in the Bronx.
Trump then commended Dr. Ben Carson, his former HUD secretary, Rubio, Vance and Rep. Elise Stefanik.
The ex-president said he would announce his choice 'sometime during the convention.'
The Republican National Convention is scheduled for mid-July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Trump also has a number of former 2024 rivals at his disposal.
His chief rival, former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley, finally said this week that she would vote for Trump in the November election.
Trump supporters interviewed by DailyMail.com in New Jersey liked the idea of the ex-president picking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, another chief challenger.
DeSantis said months ago he wouldn't take the promotion - though more recently has started fundraising for Trump.
Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is also a favorite with the MAGA crowd - and at 38-years-old would bring youth to the ticket.

Serious question. What about J.D. Vance’s life story is so inspirational? I’m unfamiliar with it.
Gabbard has a spell over some people that causes them to lose all sense. Even Roger Stone, someone who you’d think would know better, supports the idea of a Gabbard VP.
He’s got you fooled.
Whoever he picks is gonna make people unhappy
I know, and I just don’t understand it! She’s been a big government Marxist her entire career, and the fanboys & girls swoon over her.
Does anyone think she’s changed all of her stands on every policy? She’s a gun grabber, amnesty queen, ban fossil fuels, what don’t they get?
So would Ben Carson.
I don’t get it either.
MY source tells me Ben Carson is very high on the list.
Gonna brag a little...my source told be about Pence a week before the announcement.
That source says that DJT has not made a final decision. At one point Noem was the front runner, but that got hosed. There is conflict amongst his advisors as to “picking the best person” or “picking the best person that checks at least ONE diversity box.” Loyalty is a HUGE factor.
With that in mind...Ben Carson is in the lead.
that was 2016
Politically speaking, Carson would be the best choice. I don’t think he’d make the best president out of the rest of the candidates who are being discussed, but at least he would be honest and wouldn’t try to undercut Trump.
Now , wait one cotton-pickin’ minute...
Cotton supported McConnell for Senate Minority leader the last go around. I lost all respect for him after that.
He brings nothing from an electoral or demographically to Trump's election chances.
My source actually told me that jd Vance was ahead at first
That it was his for the taking , but Vance was concentrating on 2028
Then my source said that Ben Carson was ahead
Now my source tells me what I had posted earlier in that order.
Noem never came up in conversation
That is an insightful point.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply you did. I wasn’t very clear as to my intent, my bad. I just wanted to point out that like Cotton Vance is a vet, but unlike Cotton he doesn’t have the neocon tendency.
🔝🔝
Correct
He was there.
Forewarned is forearmed.
