Keir Starmer has confirmed he wants to lower the voting age to 16.
Voting rights have already been extended to some under-18s in several countries, including Austria, Argentina and Brazil. In Germany, 16-year-olds can vote in local elections and, as of this month, in European elections.
In Scotland and Wales, over-16s can already vote in devolved national elections, as well as in local elections. Over-16s also have the vote in local elections in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
However, the vote is restricted to over-18s in all elections in England and Northern Ireland.
The Liberal Democrats and Green Party have also previously supported the move, while the Conservatives have traditionally opposed it.

The article is about the UK; however, I would like to see legislation setting the right to vote, drink/purchase alcohol, smoke/purchase tobacco products, enlist in the armed forces and enter into contracts set to the same age in the US.
voting along with drinking, smoking and carrying a handgun, should all be the same age...
I vote for 35 y.o. at a minimum. Western culture has indoctrinated, brainwashed, and infantilized young adults. Only exception for younger than 35 would be those who served in combat positions in the military, once they get out. They have skin in the game.
The age for women voting should be raised to 90 !
And reinstate a property ownership requirement, literacy, and a citizenship-level knowledge of history and constitutional matters.

It was 22 in Vietnam and 26 in WWII, but 18 year olds were drafted in WWII and forward to 1973.
WWII was a mostly draftee war as was the Korean War while Vietnam was fought by mostly volunteers.

Per google you’re right. They volunteered a2/3. PRN to get some kind of control. I know 2 guys who volunteered in order to get into elite units which they did.
