Just because the government has had extreme overreach or control for an extended amount of time, does not make it any better.

I agree with that sentiment. I resent nearly every intrusion of government into our lives. It has gone so far and become so expensive that the perpetrators have exhausted the financial resources of the US. The consequences await.
