Yesterday I was at the cemetery where he is buried because a lot of my wife’s family is buried there too and we went to tend their graves. Marko’s grave is covered two or three feet deep with flowers. There has been a massive outpouring of sympathy and support for his family from the Serbian Orthodox community and his school. That small semi-rural cemetery was filled to capacity with mourners on Thursday. He was by all accounts a good kid.
I used to live around the corner from where the collision occurred. That is a four-lane street that goes through a business and residential area and is usually busy. There are reasons why the speed limit is 35 mph
The killer’s car has a dashcam that apparently recorded the collision and it also recorded his speeding and irresponsible driving in Chicago a few hours before the collision. It’s a dammed shame he wasn’t stopped before he killed Marko, but my experience is that police presence on those roads is pretty scarce.
A good kid lies under a mound of flowers because of this total bastard.
Thanks for sharing that firsthand information. These kinds of stories are heartbreaking.
