Any knife will mess you up. Why is this one special?
It used to be illegal to carry/possess one.
Cause you can do really cool stuff while you’re opening it.
Most knife laws, such as switchblade prohibitions came about after legislators watched a bunch of fruitcakes dancing on a stage with switchblades in west Side Story.
In my state it’s illegal to carry a switchblade with intent to harm another. Yea, go ahead and explain that one. I’ve asked cops and lawyers and no one has any idea.
In high school back in the early ‘70’s I knew this older kid who had one of those butterfly knives with bamboo handles. He was adept enough with that thing so as he was “deploying” it, very flashy and skillfully, when the two handles came together exposing the blade, the knife handles banged loud enough it sounded like a cap or gunshot going off.
Way cool. I tried it once, takes a lot of practice to be good at opening it like that kid could. Nowadays as you’re twirling that thing around someone will just shoot you.
For a lot of people who maybe can’t handle a butterfly knife properly, it could be more lethal to the owner.
“Any knife will mess you up. Why is this one special?”
It scared the politicians. Like auto knives.
