New York City’s public school system has received billions of dollars in additional funding since 2020 — despite enrollment cratering by nearly 100,000 students during that time, an analysis released Wednesday reveals.
Per-student spending at K-12 Department of Education schools is expected to hit $39,304 in the upcoming fiscal year 2025 budget — a massive 26.3% increase, equating to $8,185 more per student since 2020, the “Did You Know” study by the Citizens Budget Commission found.
Mayor Eric Adams proposed a 10.2% increase or $2.1 billion more in city taxpayer funding for the Big Apple public school system — which would mostly offset the $2.4 billion phase-out of federal pandemic aid given to DOE.
Total DOE spending will be $269 million, or 0.7%, less than current funding levels.

Politicians are experts at Money Laundering
Increasing population
Decreasing enrollment
Increases in payment to teachers
Yup, sounds very NY to me!
“Per-student spending at K-12 Department of Education schools is expected to hit $39,304 in the upcoming fiscal year 2025 budget”
Exactly. Moving tax money into Democratic Party control.
The results speak for themselves.
Business as usual.
Just ask Xiden.
That could also describe Commiefornia.
All of those administrators aren’t going to pay themselves.
Anti-white hate does not come cheap.
;-)
they are being rewarded for their indoctrination of students
job well done
went to a parent teacher meeting for my son
there were six bureaucrats at the meeting and no teachers
i cant even remember all of their titles

This is an insane amount of money even if the results were incredible.
I work for a small school district and our annual budget is over $300 Million. I think we spend about 20% of what NY spends per student.
For the amount NY is spending per student, they could just invest this into a fund that provides each student a lifetime income. By 18 each of them would start adulthood as millionaires.
Nationally....
“Teachers unions have steadily amped up their political involvement: From 2004 to 2016, their donations grew from $4.3 million to more than $32 million — an all-time high. Even more than most labor unions, they have little use for Republicans, giving Democrats at least 94 percent of the funds they contributed to candidates and parties since as far back as 1990, where our data begins.”

UAW Union member told me in person: The union isn’t supposed
to be directly funding candidates but under the designation “education” we can donate because it is “educating” the membership on political issues.
There are a few exceptions, but public education tends to deliver an inferior product at a ultra premium price. So this should surprise NO ONE.
Why is Canton’s school tax levy going up so much?
Despite declining enrollment.
And the last paragraph is a real howler.
Understand, but don't give a damn.
The public now exists to service its do-called public servants.
