Blaming TikTok is like blaming the gun.
Not really the same, is it?
But, TikTok can be used to influence people's thoughts and actions. Guns that are used for premeditated murder, is a means to an end, meaning that, the murderer was already determined to kill. A mind poisoned by a site, was premeditated, but, the person being poisoned could leave before being poisoned or could have a strong mind to the point that, the site could not influence him or her. The site can be used to poison the weak-minded or the naive mind. A gun does not have to be used to kill, but, it can be used to 'finish the job', meaning that, the mind was already poisoned before the gun came into the picture.

No, it’s not the same. There are people behind guns, and people behind TikTok.

Never been on TikTok.
Neither have I, but, we both know what it can be used for, and it's not the only site with the negative influence.

Young minds are poisoned by watching regular TV.
But censorship is never the answer.

I agree. Two things can be true at the same time.

No, he knows that Oct 7th happened.
He just thinks that the Israelis have been oppressing the Palestinians for 50+ years.
The only issue I PERSONALLY have is that I find it hard to believe that with all the intelligence gathering that Israel has that they could have let Oct 7th happen. This is down the rabbit hole thinking. That maybe they let it happen so they would have just cause to invade Gaza and take control over it.
How could they not have gotten wind of Hamas plans to attack? Did they and someone did not take it seriously?
Or, did they let themselves get attacked so that they could deal with a the Gaza problem?
They want rights to the natural gas under the Med off the coast. They want to build a canal to rival the Suez. The path would go through Gaza.
Pretty much everyone in the Middle East hates the Palestinians. They are like the Gypsies of the Middle East.
No one wants them in their country. Maybe they thought that no one would care IF they took over Gaza.
Secretly Egypt and Jordan would cheer it. Publicly, they must urge restraint.

No, it’s not the same. There are people behind guns, and people behind TikTok.
Both can be deadly. TikTok can influence people to kill and to kill themselves, via drug purchases. A gun can be used to kill or to defend oneself. Using a gun to kill is premeditated, while being influenced by TikTok is unexpected (for the most part). The CCP is a deadly group and it can influence people to do nefarious things, and that's its main purpose in western democracies. A gun is not nefarious; it's main purpose is for defensive purposes. The mind is where the nefarious thoughts reside, and the mind is the target of TikTok. TikTok does not target guns.

True, but, that's not the purpose of TV shows or TV news.
But, it's also true that, young minds can be poisoned by being around other people, so, it's either go live in a cave and have no contact with people at all, or be among other humans.
A perfect world does not exist. But, people can learn about right and wrong, and choose correctly. But, the bad/wrong influences will continue to exist, and be pointed out.

I don’t believe guns ‘think’. A gun’s main purpose is in the mind of the person using it.
I’m not disagreeing with you about the danger of TikTok - and it’s dangerous in more ways than just propaganda; I just think our lemmings will simply find another source.

Do the Chinese have a FOX news, for example, or an X/Twitter site or an FR site? Apples and oranges.
Sure, China censors within China. But TikTok provides an additional means of uncensored communication in the West. That's a good thing.
China wants to know (or spy) on everything and every thought that Americans put forth.
Fine. What do I care if China monitors my thoughts? So does the U.S. government through American social media.
The difference is, China can't touch me. Can't deplatform me, or debank me, or try to ostracize me, or arrest me. The American government and tech oligarchs can.
I'd rather Chinese and American tech oligarchs each own some social media, than American tech oligarchs own all of social media.

True, but, that's not the purpose of TV shows or TV news. Don't be so naive.

Considering everything Americans do on their phones and computers these days, using TikTok could expose much more of you than just your ‘thought’.

What can the Chinese do to me?
It's not because of the Chinese that I avoid wearing a Trump button. It's because of the Americans in my very blue neighborhood.
It's not because of the Chinese that businesses on October 2020 boarded up their windows, and put up "We Support BLM" signs. It's because of Antifa/BLM mobs, instigated by American social media.

How do you feel about the NSA? That’s your country too; and China does all the same stuff.

I don't feel good about the NSA, or any of the American intel community. Don't feel good about foreign intel services either.
But I like that the oligarchs -- foreign and domestic -- are fighting each other. Better than all the power becoming concentrated into a single world government.
To: Angelino97
Well, I can’t do much about exposing myself to my own government’s intel services.
But I don’t have to compound the problem by directly exposing myself to China’s, too.
