Robberies surge 5.6 percent in NYC in last month with a 350 percent increase in Central Park: ‘Free for all’

Robberies in New York City are surging, police data show.

While most major crimes are down, including shootings and murders, robberies shot up 5.6% so far in 2024 over the same period in 2023 — to 5,522 from 5,228 as of May 5.

Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, pointed out that robberies have a low arrest rate — with only about 25% of cases solved because victims typically don’t know their attackers.

The really galling thing about the crime stats is that much of the crime wave is being driven by our our recent arrival Biden invited illegals who are getting free hotels, free food and several thousand dollar a month government supplied “Bodega EBT cards”

We are paying professional criminals who came to this country for the purpose to rob and attack American citizens

I do not believe theirs or the FBI phony statistics on major crimes being down. Figures are manipulated (such as the current final season of Blue Bloods.
Jemko: So all these cases reduced to misdemeanors make the crime statistics go down.
Earlier episode: All the many extra minor encounters make the number of major ones lower in proportion. So the overall crime rates look better.

To be fair, NYC is just going back to what they used to be like.

The city was like Gotham back in the late '80s and early '90s.

The voters had learned their lesson so they voted for Rudy who cleaned up the city.

Then Bloomberg kept Rudy's policies.

So that was about 30 years of effective city government.

NYC was also a cesspit in the 1970s. Then Koch cleaned it up some.

Then Dinkens ruined it in the latter 1980s.

Then Giuliani cleaned it up in the 1990s.

Then DeBlasio ruined it again in the 2010s.

NYC can't learn a lesson. Every time they have it good, they reject their mayor's "fascist policing."
