Gavin Newsom proposes a mix of spending cuts and using reserves to balance the state budget. He says that core services will be largely untouched, but some existing programs would be affected.

Cut programs for citizens, raise taxes, raise fees but keep free health care for illegals.

Then, he will complain and make some minor cuts in the spending but the tax increases will remain. This guy is a lying sack of you know what. He makes the former governor, Gray Davis, who was recalled look like a super star.

Alcatraz isn’t actually inhabitable - not only are the buildings unsafe, but IIRC the island itself is not stable either.
However... there are other islands off the coast in which a prison could be built (cheaper than fixing Alcatraz) and California has plenty of desert in which to put a new prison or twelve.
