But replacing action with rhetoric is why the UN was created, and how it has, with few exceptions, functioned for 79 years. Horse hockey. The UN was created to use treaty law as a get-around against the Constitution. Almost all the environmental regulations used to destroy our industrial economy cite such treaties for their "legal authority." By that means, Wall Street has cashed in on the value created by American workers over the last century, while violating the tacit social contract acquiring their creative work at virtually no cost.
America has allowed its investor class to suckle off printed money replacing labor with capital.

One of FDR’s greatest failures was believing that his ingratiating manner would charm Stalin at Tehran and again at Yalta. That got us Soviet domination of all of eastern Europe, and 40 years of Cold War. Which is arguably still going on.
And we believe that Russians think like we do. They don’t and they won’t. Russia (and China) never had the Christian Reformation and the flowering of classical liberalism that occurred in the West. We’re negotiating with a 13th century society, and our alleged “statesmen” need to be educated about that fact.

"Biden had also claimed that if Xi continued to do so [materially support Russia in its war against Ukraine]
, “he made sure the Chinese president understood he would ‘be putting himself in significant jeopardy’ and risking China’s economic ties with the U.S. and Europe” Just how can Biden's admonition possibly have the slightest, desired effect--for anyone beyond the Biden family-- in the context of his family's acceptance of millions in pay-offs from the Chinese?
Blinken's being greeted by a low-level Chinese official on anything but a red carpet tells us all we need to know.
