The House on Wednesday overwhelmingly voted to protect Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) from a conservative coup, torpedoing an effort by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to oust the GOP leader from the top job.
The chamber voted 359-43-7 on a motion to table Greene’s motion to vacate, preventing the removal resolution from hitting the floor for a vote.
The final vote — which was widely expected amid bipartisan opposition to the ouster gambit — deals a major blow to Greene, who filed her measure more than a month ago and had threatened to trigger it ever since.
It means Johnson, who won the gavel in October following the ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), will remain in the top job. But the vote puts him in the precarious position of being a GOP Speaker propped up by Democrats, which could earn him the ire of conservatives.
In brief remarks delivered shortly after Wednesday’s vote, Johnson thanked his colleagues for their support.
“I appreciate the show of confidence from my colleagues to defeat this misguided effort,” he said. “That is certainly what it was.”

Yes, you are correct. My error.
If only they could vote to stuff a sock in her mouth for a while until votes are actually available to do something
“Mike Johnson is a good man who is trying very hard.”-President Trump
Johnson may be a good man but has he done everything in his power to promote the MAGA agenda? It appears he's giving the democrats everything they want, which explains why the Dems bail him out. Johnson has done nothing to promote closing the border or deporting illegal aliens. Johnson has supported legislation forwarding billions to the money-laundering scheme called Ukraine. Johnson has done nothing to defund and dismantle the administrative state. Johnson has done nothing to curb our national debt, i.e., out of control govt spending. Johnson has done nothing to stop voter fraud.
IF Johnson or any republican speaker were truly interested in addressing MAGA concerns, they would need to shut down the government via not passing any bills to authorize or reauthorize spending and only bring MAGA bills to the floor.
The problem we have is that very few House members are MAGA. Unfortunately, the House makeup will not elect and support a MAGA Speaker. The result is that we get establishment big-donor bought Speakers, which is how I'd characterize Johnson and McCarthy before him.
Yes, but look at the next sentence. Which makes that first sentence hardly a glowing endorsement.
So, Democrats supported and own Johnson. Nice to know what’s been obvious.
The Republicans who voted against the swamp:
Rep. Andy Biggs (Ariz.)
Rep. Eric Burlison (Mo.)
Rep. Eli Crane (Ariz.)
Rep. Warren Davidson (Ohio)
Rep. Paul Gosar (Ariz.)
Rep. Thomas Massie (Ky.)
Rep. Alex Mooney (W. Va.)
Rep. Barry Moore (Ala.)
Rep. Chip Roy (Texas)
Rep. Victoria Spartz (Ind.)
Her motion would have been great if she had the votes for a replacement who is to the right of Johnson. Her motion accomplished nothing but to leave Johnson beholden to the Democrats and RINOS for his survival.
Good.
He's only hanging on because Trump doesn't want him replaced right now. Don't expect Trump to object to him being replaced in the next Congress.

Enjoy the Little Creep but I can tell you where this is going.
Of course they did.
I’m just surprised that there appear to be at least 43 of them that aren’t full fledged Uniparty Establishmentarians.
********
32 of those votes were democrats who want Jeffries as speaker going into November.
Whoever, the Speaker is after the election will be an establishment type, it’s built into to our system of government.
He’s only hanging on because Trump doesn’t want him replaced right now. Don’t expect Trump to object to him being replaced in the next Congress.

Trump doesn’t give a shit about Johnson, Johnson types are a “dime a dozen” in politics.
However, he does want be elected President and having Republican politicians at war with each other is a recipe for disaster this November.
That’s appropriate to replace him in January. Only one idiot didn’t realize that. Well today proved it.
“The Republicans who voted with no plan:”
No plan at all would be far better than the Johnson/Schumer/Pelosi/Jeffries legislative plan
Has Speaker Johnson made any comments about ordnance shipments being delayed being sent to Israel?
“...having Republican politicians at war with each other is a recipe for disaster this November.”
There already is a war in the Republican party and the RINO congressmen outnumber the MAGAs
I’m with Trump on this one. The focus now should be on the 2024 elections.
There already is a war in the Republican party and the RINO congressmen outnumber the MAGAs
****************
They do now in the short term(2024 & 2028) but over the next decade and a half the kind of Republican(RINO) you’re talking about should decrease substantially.
If a correction doesn’t occur during this decade, the party will go extinct just like the Federalists & the Whigs.
