The “furry” scene is another display of a form of identity dysphoria, with other attendant mental issues that go along with it. No one should be surprised by ANY abnormal behaviors from them.
there are real people who really have body dysmorphia issues, it's a real mental health problem and it can't be solved with surgeries or injections (I include legit trans people in this, though now because of social media many "trans" people are just trend followers). I have compassion for these people.
However I draw the line at furries. They are weirdo deviants, plain and simple. It's not mental illness, it's a sexual fetish.
