Former President Donald Trump has laid out the most concrete timeline yet for when he might select his running mate for the 2024 Republican ticket.
“I’ll be picking, but probably not too much before the convention, which I happen to be having in the great state of Wisconsin,” the presumptive GOP nominee told FOX 6 Milwaukee during a campaign visit to the battleground state Wednesday.
The Republican National Convention will be held in Milwaukee July 15-18. Traditionally, the vice presidential nominee will address the delegates on the penultimate night of the gathering.
A source familiar with the conversation previously told The Post that biotech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy is almost definitely out of the running for VP, while allies of the former president said South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has “no shot” at the position after she recounted a 20-year-old story about killing her dog.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also ruled himself out as Trump’s running mate in a February call with donors.
Bloomberg reported Thursday that the former president had narrowed his choices to four top contenders: North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Republican Sens. JD Vance of Ohio, Marco Rubio of Florida and Tim Scott of South Carolina.

I do like Tulsi. While she’s no conservative (yet) she’s certainly headed in our direction.
Trump certainly needs someone on the ticket who can articulate the conservative viewpoint without being bombastic. Trump is funny, but the media doesn’t present his humorous comments as such.
I think we won't use you as leadership for the female GOTV effort, then.
Then you choose to lose.
Your demographic tops out at 25%-30% and can't win a national election.
Which is another reason Tulsi is a great choice.
This election needs a Willie Horton, and the Devouring Mother of the digital longhouse is the perfect target - and Tulsi Gabbard is the perfect attack dog.
I chose Ronald Reagan, when the general Republican Party opinion favored former Texas Governor John Connally.
I chose Ronald Reagan, because he was a conservative Republican who was very well versed in our worthy American heritage.
Tulsi Gabbard is not a good choice, for the reasons I mentioned.
AbolishCSEU, you are OK.
Most Reagan voters are dead. And so is Reagan conservatism.
It conserved nothing.
“South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has “no shot” at the position after she recounted a 20-year-old story about killing her dog.”
Sad when this is all it takes to end a republican. The Dems rarely destroy one of their own.
LOL = NYP is barely a tabloid trash now(Murdoch owned)
Bloombird has little credibility.
Scott and Rubio are RINO’s who would do damage.
I’ll bite, what makes him a con man?
I don’t know about Burgum, but of the others only Vance is acceptable to me.
I think it should be DeSantis. DeSantis gets things done. He’s not just all talk.
Thanks for the link. You make good points. Reality is we don’t know who can be trusted. Seems like even the good guys go to DC and get whitewashed.
I don’t think Vick is ready for VP, but I would like to see him have a role on Trumps team.
Please don’t. I have my hand full with rental properties in militantly pro tenant New York and my husband’s HVAC biz.
I don’t really know anything about Burgum. I like what I have seen from JD Vance a lot. As to Marco Rubio and Tim Scott—ugh. Is some “advisor” intentionally trying to hamstring Trump’s campaign?
Yes, Donalds or Vance.
He’s not choosing any of them. The list is just a decoy, so when his real choice is announced, everyone will be flummoxed, including supporters. He’s a showman, and that’s how a showman would do.
Lee Zeldin did very well, during his run for governor, and New York had a small red wave from his efforts. Trump would do much better in New York, if Lee Zeldin became the VP, but it would, still, be very difficult for Trump to, actually, carry New York. Still, it would force the Democrats to spend more money and, perhaps, spend more time in New York than what they planned to spend there.
