Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont acknowledged Monday he helped hire a landscaper that illegally chopped down more than 180 trees and thousands of bushes on a property behind his Greenwich home, capping off days of questions about his level of involvement.
The wealthy two-term Democrat, along with one of his neighbors and a neighborhood organization, have been accused of removing trees in protected wetlands — property they do not own — to get a better view of a pond.
Lamont denied that charge, telling reporters on Monday the trees were damaged in previous storms and the plan was to clean up the area. Yet he admitted partial responsibility for inadvertently cutting trees on someone else’s land.
“I think at the end of the day, I’m responsible and the [neighborhood organization] is,” Lamont told reporters after appearing at an unrelated event at Bridgeport Hospital on Monday. “They hired a contractor to do the work, and I think the contractor went beyond the scope a little bit.”

Silly proles. Laws are for little folks. Not rich politicians and their HOAs.
The *private school next to our church did the same thing. The idiot in charge, at the school, said he thought ALL of the creek and trees belonged to the school. He did not bother to ask or get a survey.
*Christian school
If I was the owner of that property, I’d put up an old rusty steel wall with graffiti on it blocking the view to the pond.
That state is smaller than some counties out west. New England needs to be combined into one state. A lot of these problems come from such a small area having 12-14 senators and 6-7 Governors.
Or like drive in theaters use to. Poles with high intensity lights until the whole area is replanted with trees just as tall.
Have him pay to replant 2 trees in the same location for every one he cut down.
Let them eat wood chips...
That filth is worth 320 million plus. They did it thinking they might pay a couple of hundred thousand fine...if that.
They should have to pay to replant the entire thing with trees the same size.
14 senators and 7 governors. …..huh ?

Meanwhile some poor sap out west levels a small low spot in his wheat field and the Federal Government lands on them for destroying a wetland. If you dared to go on his land and gut down a Christmas tree... a SWAT team would hit your house and you’d be thrown into a dungeon with you truck seized and sold at auction.
They totally did this.
2 per state. All of New England north of New York is 6 states. Throw in New York and its 7 states.
Throw in a couple of more crap states like New Jersey and Delaware and Maryland and you are sitting at 20 Senators for an unproductive area still -much- smaller than Texas. That is the very root of our problems.
You should be able to shoot people taking your property.
Ironically, these States used to be solid GOP.
NY is not a part of New England. Period .
….
Yep, blame it on the contractor.
Yep, rock ribbed. And I used to be good looking and able to run a mile in 4:45!
The days of New England repubs are gone.
