Columbia University administrators seemed poised to take a brave stand against ongoing student protests Monday — and then totally wimped out, cowering in the face of student activists. This morning, school president Minouche Shafik steadfastly announced on the school’s website that Columbia would not divest its endowment from Israel.
“The university will not divest from Israel,” Shafik courageously declared, while also acknowledging that negotiations to clear student protesters — who have been camped out on campus since April 17 — had been unsuccessful. Ball in her court, Shafik laid down a new 2 p.m. deadline for the “liberated zone” to empty and the camp to be dismantled.
But student protesters — threatened with suspension if they failed to clear out on time — seemed dubious that the administration would really follow through. After all, there have already been multiple eviction deadlines that the school let pass without incident.

A lot of these University presidents are women. Anyone else see a linkage there?
Mostly outside protesters so “feel good” threat.
One of the myths of the left is if you are nice to people, they will be nice to you.
Another is young people, especially students, are wiser than older people.
As if that’s not bad enough, Columbia’s president is
Nemat “Minouche” Shafik.
I think she’s probably a DAR, no?
While there are non student protesters outside the gate those on campus are all students. Student ID is required to get on to campus.
You don’t think woke college students?

No, she is from the British House of Lords.
I do not think so. Of course, there will be a mix.
The left, generally believe people are good, and are corrupted by society.
Conservatives generaly believe people are sinners (or wild animals at birth) and have to be taught to behave in a civilization. Opposite beliefs about how people start out.
I go a laugh reading this response to the “NY Post” article:
“The students are motivated by getting a free tent to keep, supplies, a daily stipend of maybe $50 for better food than the dining hall, paid by nonprofits, and it’s a social gathering to get dates.”
No, she is from the British House of Lords.

Now that I can believe. With an Indian named Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister - anything is possible.
All “non-profits” should be outlawed.
He’s from Southampton.
Then why not have the provost do the dirty work? So the president can stay out of it?
