No pun intended...
If you read the entire passage from her book, she didn't just shoot a puppy because it wasn't trained.
The dog had killed other animals and attacked other people. I'm not convinced the dog needed to be put down, but it isn't quite as bad and most are making it out to be.
But Kristi is disqualified in my eyes for being tone deaf enough to not realize that including this story in her autobiography was just asking for a heap of trouble.
She also said she hated the dog. It didn’t kill any animals or chickens. He chased them.
She could have rehomed him. Said he wasn’t a good hunting dog. My cousin sent his lab to 6 month training camp to be a Master hunter. Cost 5K. She could have chose to do that also.
I understand the story was already out and she was trying to get ahead of it. Also it happened 20 years ago.Farm dogs and working hunting dogs are not really pets most time and sometimes just considered part of the stock. Y’all say what you will but maybe, just maybe, she saved some young child in the future from getting mauled. I have had dogs all my life but sometimes you get one that is just plain insane, wont listen, kills other animals for fun, completely uncontrollable.
