With six and a half months before Election Day, the latest Meredith College poll shows Democrat Josh Stein gaining a bit more ground over Republican Mark Robinson in North Carolina’s gubernatorial contest. Stein now leads Robinson 45%-36% — up from a five percentage point advantage in February.
a chart describing polling in the governor's race Source: Meredith Poll Poll director and political scientist David McLennan says while Robinson gets a lot of support from conservatives in the state, Stein is growing his base among unaffiliated voters and those who say they are politically moderate.
“Robinson continues to get negative media coverage of his statements and actions from the past. This enhanced exposure of Robinson’s extreme statements, as well as concerns that some of Robinson’s policy positions, seems to be shifting the unaffiliated voters into Stein’s camp,” noted McLennan.
Most recently Robinson has drawn attention for failing to file federal income taxes for five years between 1998-2002. Robinson’s communications director Mike Lonergan told ABC News that Robinson’s made no secret of his past financial challenges and that it’s “old news recycled by Democrats.”
Republicans suck but how the heck are Democrats (still) getting 50% of the vote? The economy is horrible, 2 wars, inflation, etc-—and people are still voting for these morons?
No Democrat is “politically moderate”.
He/she/it/whatever is “politically corrupt”.
Yes, more than a few Repulsicans are that way also. And yes, we keep reelecting all these ***holes and expect different results.
Meredith college is all female libtards.
I live in Raleigh. The town, and surrounding areas (Apex, Carry and Garner) are left leaning by all accounts, but there is a strong undercurrent of closeted conservatives. Mark is Trump on steroids. He has absolutely obliterated all of the sacred cows of the left, especially the LGTBQ. He’s not well liked in the capital city. I will vote for him.
"Mention modern art, civil rights, or folk music, and you're in like Flynn."
This is what you get when you pursue the almighty dollar which libtards love.
I used to live in Cary. Can confirm. Now I’m in Smithfield. Whenever someone doesn’t like Robinson I call them racist.
Can confirm. Don’t trust any poll coming from there.
The Republicans have been winning all the national races in NC. Kay Hagan won the Senate in 2008, the last time the Democrats won a seat in NC.
Its not a single poll folks, Robins is down in most polling in the state.
This isn’t an isolated poll. Even polls that have shown Robinson up, not a single one has him scoring above 44%.
Attacking this poll doesn’t really answer my question in any way folks. What exactly is going on down in NC.. Trump is tearing it up, but this guy is struggling, what is going on.

See Post 11, the article is about 1 poll, but the question is about the general case... This guy isn’t doing well... even when a poll shows him winning the highest he’s ever rated is 44%.
Its not just 1 poll, its the all the polls, so, since Trump is tearing it up in NC, what is going on with this guy that he’s failing to launch.
I’m extremely doubtful about this poll.
The closeted conservatives I spoke about... black folks. Mark has been in the black communities and churches for a long time and his message is resonating. His ability to get folks to the booths remains to be seen, but if he does, he’ll win in a landslide.

White liberals are racists. They only like black people when they can control them.
We wish that Trump will “dominate” in NC but neither party is going to do that. If people ignore outlier polls on the left they better ignore the same type on the right, otherwise they’re just deluding themselves.
The North Carolina gubernatorial election is shaping up to be somewhat like the one in Kentucky, where an empty-suit liberal Rat is being opposed by a black conservative (Mark Robinson in NC, Daniel Cameron in Kentucky).
As happened in Kentucky too, the liberal has a sizable advantage in fundraising, with Joshie Stein having all the money in the world and Robinson trailing by several million dollars. The liberal wing of the GOP (scumbag Thom Tillis, etc.) is making a point out of NOT supporting Robinson and not funding him either.
I’m not in NC but I’d wager that Stein’s media campaign of lies and hate is running 24/7 everywhere while Robinson’s media presence is far more low-profile by comparison, if it exists at all.
UNLIKE in Kentucky, Robinson is a fighter while Cameron turned out to be a lukewarm bowl of milk and went down meekly.
Good luck to Robinson. He’ll never be heavily favored in any reliable poll (or in November), but it damn sure ought to be close in the end and not any blowout in favor of the sleazy A.G.
I hope you are correct because I really want Robinson to win!!!
Again. see post 11... The article is about 1 poll, but he’s not doing well in polling in general. Even in polls he is winning he never tops 44% support...
So I ask again, what exactly is going on in NC, from folks on the ground there.
Trump is crushing in, up 5+ in polling averages and has been for a long long time, but this guy just seems unable to launch.
“and people are still voting for these morons”

Lots of sheeple and takers out there.
