With an early May donor retreat in Palm Beach coming up with potential 2024 GOP vice presidential candidates, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has reportedly met privately with presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
The onetime allies turned bitter primary rivals met Sunday in Miami, and DeSantis has agreed to help Trump's campaign in some capacity, sources told The Washington Post.
Trump and DeSantis had not spoken since before the 2024 primary cycle, but they broke the silence between them as the Trump campaign hopes to tap into what was a strong DeSantis donor network, sources told the Post.
Unlike former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, DeSantis suspended his primary campaign after Iowa and before the New Hampshire polls closed and immediately endorsed Trump.
The reunion was orchestrated by mutual acquaintance and Florida real estate broker Steve Witkoff, who reached out to the Trump campaign to help reconnect DeSantis to Trump, according to the Post.
"It's clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance," DeSantis said in a video message. "They watched his presidency get stymied by relentless resistance, and they see Democrats using lawfare to this day to attack him."

Candidates go after each other mercifully during the campaigns and on stage. Then they shake hands. It’s what SHOULD happen.
Oh trust me. The liberal FREEPERS were very pissed yesterday when they heard about this. It was a funny thread with the usual suspects.
As a team we are unbeatable, now Nikki needs to get on the train.
Fear not.....the knuckle dragging DeSantis haters will be along directly to prove to us yet again how utterly ignorant they are.
I was a DeSantis lover, then a DeSantis hater when he listened to his donors and wife and backstabbed Trump. I was, however, intrigued to hear about this meeting. I think DeSantis is a good, strong VP candidate and I think he found out (the hard way) what his place is, for now. I would be quite happy with a Trump/DeSantis ticket.....not that it matters, being Canadian and all. Lol except we’re counting on you guys to save the world!
Trump wants DeSantis’ donor network that we were told makes the candidate beholden to the GOPe, RINO, WEF organizations.
What will DeSantis haters do now?
Maybe Trump should endorse another turncoat like Speaker Johnson. That will prove Trump’s conservatism.
lol....too true.
That looks more like Dodger Stadium than Anaheim Stadium. Was this just the writers being goofy?
This may be happening already...?
Nut sure I trust anything coming out of Newsmax anymore.....
A thread tailor made for Biden voters. Flame bait. Now watch all of the usual LOSERS chime in.
I never thought President Trump would intentionally piss Florida off (as a swing state/early vote state).
DeSantis never faltered while Trump "attacked" and maintained a mature stand in his determination and political/social views.
Look at Florida today and ask if DeSantis was affected.
These two have been playing 3D chess all along.

Other thread on this... It seems desanctimonious is not getting the attention he wanted with his daily press conferences, so he's trying to suck up to Trump now, for attention
Can you show us on the doll where Ron DeSantis touched you?
“Screw you”
“Right back at ya, like no one has ever been screwed before”
Desantis is my man
Never less
Trump just tweeted on truth social
STOP THE PROTESTS NOW!!!
genius move. Genius
Shows Biden weakness
Genius move.
lol....
I wouldn’t let desantis touch me with his snot smeared hands or other body parts....
But apparently the desanctimonious fanatics wouldn’t mind it.....
No chance he’ll be the vp nominee. He’d have to give up his governorship and move out of Florida. This is just about Trump needing DeSantis’s political and fundraising support. DeSantis will give it because it’s in his best interest to do so. If Trump wins then when DeSantis is looking for another job in 2026 when his term ends, and Trump will put him in his cabinet.
