I know that area as I have traveled that stretch many times. We used to stop at the rest area on the Arizona side, as the NM rest area was a dump.
I’m sure the solution to the spill will be to set fire to everything. Works every time!
Are these train derailments common and just being noticed more?
yes
A very big deal as this is a busy E-W freight corridor.
“The sheriff’s office also said six of the railcars contained liquified petroleum gas, and firefighters are not actively attempting to put the fire out.”
If only there was a safer, more efficient way to transport petroleum products and natural gas.....
It’s just freakin’ LPG, hardly hazardous unless it blows up and it isn’t going to now. Tempest in a teapot.
I think we should ask Pete Buttigieg, the Secretary of Transportation, I sure have noticed quite a few of these incidents since he was put in command.
The rest stop as you enter NM has been rebuilt and is actually pretty nice as far as rest stops go. Clean and lots of tourist brochures.
Well, it’s been 20 years.
And here I was feeling so safe with Pete in charge.
