New legislation being proposed in California would ban the expedited security screening company Clear from operating in the state’s airports, as proponents say the service raises equity issues given it effectively lets wealthier people skip ahead of passengers waiting in line to be screened by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents.
The bill, SB-1372, the first of its kind in the U.S., would require third-party vendors like Clear to get their own dedicated security lane or lose the ability to operate in California airports.
Clear charges members $189 per year to verify passengers' identities at airports, allowing them to bypass TSA checkpoints. The service is in use at more than 55 airports across the U.S., as well as at dozens of sports stadiums and other venues, according to its website. Members verify their identity at Clear kiosks. It is separate to the TSA Pre-Check, although many Clear members use both services.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. You CLEAR guys are hated by the left.
Now you will have to have a special cut out and free service for MooseLimbs, Trannies, and Feminazis.
Didn’t like Clear’s hard-sell, and at Boise on a Sunday eve, hardly found it worth anything.
Might have to take a second look at it now.
Only Congress Critters get to bypass the line.
Doesn’t some people using Clear actually make the line quicker for everyone?
Why stop there? Next, they should ban the line-skipping services at Disneyland and other theme parks. Better yet, they should outlaw ALL taking of reservations or appointments. First come, first served in the name of equity, I say! Only white oppressors make or take reservations. California should make a stand and set the example!

Won’t this new policy trigger the illegal immigrant new arrivals?
I never knew that clear was a private or profit approach. I thought it like pre-check was government run, clear was using biometrics. Since it is not free, and a private screening, I’m fine with it disappearing. When I first signed up for it. It was a one time $89 fee. I guess times changed if they’re trying to charge 189 each year. I only use a couple times because most airports didn’t have it several years ago, pre-Covid.
I don’t fly often, but going through security only takes a few minutes.
Trusted travelers could potentially get compromised by say a kidnapped child, so I don’t think anyone should be able to bypass security.
California is a one party state with a lap dog media and courts in their pocket. Any insane idea one of them has can and often does become law.
Remember it is not how many votes are cast but who counts the votes - in California Democrats count the votes.
Yes, it will it will be a wonderful world when we are all equal.
P
it is just like when the government crooks charge us to use “fast lanes” on the highways we have already paid to use anyway with our taxes, gasoline taxes, and vehicle fees
charging several times for the same product or service used to be criminal conduct *but if the gummit crooks do it to us, it is merely an “expression of the public’s will” and “an equity-enhancing measure for the improvement of society”
(aw sheit!)
AS IS COMMONLY ATTRIBUTED to Thomas Jefferson (although I can find some similar phraseology in his writings, I haven’t quite come across the exact quote but anyway it sounds consistent with his overall understanding of how government works)
+The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.”
Yet the Uber-Wealthy will still bypass TSA entirely as they're driven directly to their private jets.
If we want "true equity," how about EVERYONE -- Zuckerberg, Clinton, Gates, Bezos, Soros, the Emoffs -- has to wait in line to fly coach on commercial airlines.
I’ve never used a service to cut the line and never missed a flight. The lines go pretty quickly and I’m flying out of Orlando mostly. People spend money on dumb things and wonder why they are poor.
Clear is only good if TSA doesn’t have their s*** together at an airport. Unfortunately for Clear, Denver for me has gotten good enough that Clear isn’t worth it. Like the Lexus lanes, if there is congestion on the main lanes, that’s how they get their $$$ and I think sometimes they hire people to intentionally f up the main lanes—to make money.
The highway fast lanes are run by the state fastrac system. (In SF Bay area) Now they can change the toll based on the level of jam up on the other (free) lanes. If they could do this at airports, it would take over in a New York minute.
So CA is missing a new tax. They should make Clear a state run enterprose and raise or lower the fee for use based on the degree of crowding in the normal TSA lines.
They probably looked at it and could not figure how to do it with a Federal agency like TSA??
Howz about banning all class seats? We can all go cattle class. After all, why should those richies get great seats and drinks and food? Oh wait, howz about the gubmit giving me a few grand for each flight so I can live the lux class? After all, I’m only costing a small percentage of what ILLEGAL ALIENS (had to capitalize so semi-literate leftist congresscritters can see it) get from the corrupt class.
I use CLEAR, and think it a scam. Often CLEAR is understaffed, and the lack of an attendant to chaperone you through security makes it bottleneck. TSA Pre-check is very often fast enough and all anyone needs.
The state tried to take over marijuana by decriminalizing it and then taxing the hell
Out of it.
The state so screwed up that tax program that some marihuana shops are going out of business despite the fact they’re selling one of the highest- demand products in California
The state long ago crewed up its unemployment insurance program to the point where many people won’t bother even applying for benefits anymore
The state screwed up its public utility regulation through gross corruption and collusion — now the power supply is in jeopardy and the state is reliant on out of state coal plants plus an old nuclear power plant built immediately adjacent to an earthquake fault (and build opposite to its approved design plan)
The state screwed up its Public revenues / taxation policies to try to force the higher income folks to pay the politicians to support and buy the votes from lower- income people. Now the higher earners are rushing yo get the hell out
Imho, the less the state attempts to run or take control over, the better. 95 percent anyway
