I'm talking about the quality of the cars. Most of them seemed to be designed to last 50,000 miles and then end up in a junk yard. Just to cite one example that was noteworthy enough to get a line in a Bruce Springsteen song on his "Nebraska" album:

The article makes a vague reference to quality issues at the plant, but the details have been documented elsewhere. By the time that plant was shut down, it consistently had the worst quality control metrics of any plant Ford operated anywhere.
