This city, nestled in the heart of Iran, is not only a major cultural landmark but also the epicenter of the country's nuclear ambitions and home to a significant airbase. Targeting Isfahan, Iran's "crown jewel," Israel's action carried a profound warning: a demonstration of military might, and a counterattack that was presumed by many experts not to be made until after Passover.
This maneuver by Israel echoes a biblical story from 1 Samuel 26, where David, pursued by King Saul, infiltrates the king's camp and absconds with his spear and water jug—items placed next to the sleeping king. David's subsequent display of these items from a safe distance served as a powerful testament to his ability to strike at the heart of Saul's defenses without harming him. Israel’s restraint is because they are being coerced into that.
Israel’s inaction does not benefit Israel, it benefits us.
Imagine had someone post 9-11 said to the American public how smart it is to practice restraint, how this is wise, bla bla bla?
The US today already has one foot firmly planted on the Palestinian side, that’s the real issue.
— Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE are far more economically important to us than Israel and they all have some clout in DC.
— In the West today, you have a significant Arab and Muslim voting block which impacts elections.
— The Muslim/Arab perspective is well represented in the Western media.
— Any actions taken which piss off this population needs to take into consideration internal security issues, i.e. protests, riots, terrorist activity. Example: France and Spain.
— The West has grown tired of this issue.
What you’re really seeing isn’t some ingenious strategic restraint, rather the US already today having split interests and Israel being dependent on us for their existence.
Wanna end this ME crap? Launch massive air strikes dropping fuel-air vapor bombs on every military installation and tunnel network known.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE are all Sunni, who have no love for Shi’a Iran and its’ proxies in, for example, Yemen.
Maybe the behind the curtain reason has to do with a certain Valerie Jarrett?
Everyone has known all along that Israel had this capability. Nothing new there. What is big news is the fact that Iran has a nuclear capability that it can use against Israel anytime it wants to. It’s called Dimona and Iran demonstrated it can put as many hypersonic missiles on it as it takes to totally destroy it. That fact has has forced the Israelis to moderate their aggressiveness towards Iran.
When dealing with animals it isn’t wise to overthink things.
I'm sure they're fully expecting Israel to withdraw from Gaza, the birthplace of numerous unending attacks on Israel. And sadly, I fear that will happen --- Israel will be forced to withdraw and return it to Hamas eventually.
And the cycle will repeat. Maybe in seven years?
