House Speaker Mike Johnson supported shutting down the Southern border until it got in the way of his real priorities: sending money abroad.
There’s a very simple logic to the Democrat position on Ukraine: Its continued welfare sponsored by American taxpayers is very important, but it’s not more important than maintaining an open Southern border for the world’s criminal and destitute to flood the nation (again, sponsored by American taxpayers).
We know that’s the indisputable Democrat position because while they, including the Biden White House, insist there’s nothing more urgent than sending tens of billions dollars more to Ukraine, they’re not willing to do so if it means blocking the access of a single illegal alien to America’s interior. After months of negotiating a matter that shouldn’t require more than a second’s worth of debate, Democrats put forward a bill that legalized the unauthorized entry of up to 5,000 aliens per day. That’s how serious they are about keeping the border agape.
It’s an untenable position, yet that brings us to House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican who has stunningly revealed himself this week to hold the exact same position. Immediately after he was elected to lead the House and his party, Johnson emphatically stated in public multiple times that solving the border crisis, both instigated and exacerbated by the president, was not just a priority but mandatory.
“Any national security package has to begin with the security of our own border… We have to effect real policy change at the border, and that is a necessary condition to anything we do going forward,” Johnson said on December 6, 2023.
When Democrats presented their “bipartisan” bill to legalize nearly another 2 million aliens per year, enough Republicans walked away to kill both that bill and any further welfare for Ukraine. But then Johnson had a few meetings with Biden administration officials and he’s now on the same side as Democrats. He’s calling himself a “wartime speaker,” a consequential figure of historical proportions, and promising to put up another round of legislation for Ukraine after having secured nothing on the border.
If Democrats weren’t willing to budge on the border for the sake of their beloved Ukraine, but Johnson is, what does that mean?
No matter how you cut it, Mike Johnson supports an open Southern border, too.
Yeah well you are a Zeeper, so…
Don’t avoid what I asked you.
Are you now claiming Jim Jordan is a corrupt enemy who turned on you?
Because if so that’s just plain crazy.
Well you are a communist then.
Sticks and stones.
Well he can explain his vote to us if he cares to. Until then I am certainly puzzled, to put it mildly.
Ok that’s reasonable. I’m sure he will explain it.
No, maybe these others are also soft on borders and folding. You can go and make excuses for them all but the problem is none are standing up for what we want.
The GOP is, if anything, MORE in favor of an open border than the Democrats.
I believe the GOP will disappear within 2-3 years and be replaced by a pro-American nationalist party that will finally carry on a real opposition to the Democrats.
Johnson needs better political advice. What did he think was going to happen after he said on camera that blacks have a built in disadvantage? Johnson already faced the impossible dilemma of infuriating either pro- or anti- Ukraine factions. Trump is holding the next shoe to drop but he is busy.
“So legalize the illegal entry of 1.* million illegal unvetted immigrants a year.”
You might be missing my thoughts. CBP’s total encounters along the southwest border in February 2024 were 189,922. Total encounters include U.S. Border Patrol encounters between ports of entry, as well as individuals who presented themselves at ports of entry. There are 50 places where people can cross the Mexico–United States border. So if the entry can be lowered to 5000 a day at 50 locations, that adds up to 100 a day total at all locations. Think that’s happening now?
On October 9, 2023, the Committee on the Judiciary
and Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary released an interim staff report:
“The Biden Border Crisis: New Data and Testimony Show How the Biden Administration Opened the Southwest Border and Abandoned Interior Enforcement.”
The report revealed how, in the first 26 months of the Biden Administration, “DHS released at least 2,148,738 illegal aliens into the United States.” The Committee also reported how ICE officers had been forced to abandon interior immigration enforcement to process the flood of illegal aliens arriving in the ountry every day. The report’s findings were based on data from the beginning of the Biden Administration through March 2023.
So the possible 5K a day at the entire border, or around 100 a day at each entry location, is not an unacceptable number when over 6M illegals are on the float now with over 3M not having a get out date. So if 5000 a day are allowed in, that equals 1.8M a year coming in legally.
But that’s not the problem. Of the nearly 6 million illegal alien encounters from January 20, 2021, through September 30, 2023, at least 3,095,577 illegal aliens had no confirmed departure from the United States as of September 30, 2023.
So the number Johnson is after being only at entry points is just a way of getting everyone else made illegal and an excuse to get them caught and returned. Anmd thgt problem is in control of Biden with the decision to assist illegals, not legals.

They are already illegal.
You trust dems to follow the rules they impose?
I wanted Bryon Daniel for Speaker...would have made the Dems furious....a black Republican MAGA supporter as speaker...
“They are already illegal.”
Not the ones that come through the doors with the proper paperwork and live under the rules established to get in here. There are more than criminals and disease carrying people out there that can be a dividend to our society. There are hoops that have to be jumped through and the people coming in have a responsibility to get through them. It isn’t supposted to be a free ride. A good site is this: https://www.usa.gov/naturalization
Now that we know there are rules, and we limit the amounts to a handleable amount coming in, we have “restarted” the naturalization process that can be profitable to the country. They have to earn it but we have to give them the oppportunity to do so for us to draw upon those that can be that dividend.
After that, it is the responsibility of our “elected” government agents to see the system is accomplished. And that’s the part that has broken down and is more the fault of the voters for letting slackers and crooks get in and do nothing. If you hire a manager to run your business, and he/she gets lazy and has nothing but excuses as to why the system that worked well before them broke down, then it’s time for the pink slip. There must be someone out there that wants a job bad enough to do it right.
When you fight war, the first thing you try to do is cut off their supplies so they can’t fight with lack of weapons or people. If you limit the people, making the system do what it was designed to do, you can be successful.

“You trust dems to follow the rules they impose?”
You just said a mouthful of truth. History has said they won’t. So I can trust them to do that. My problem with lack of trust has come to the conservtives that don’t do their jobs and make the liberals do what they are suppost to do. The rules are already there. If the liberals can get away with ignoring them or changing them to harm the system or the population, then that, to me, is not as wrong as the conservtives not trying to stop them. And Johnson is. So voters put people in office that slap him for limiting their supplies?

You said that conservatives who don't stop the spending are worse than Dems, but they couldn't have stopped it. There is a third class of politicians with an R by their name, like Romney and Cheney, who I think are clearly worse than the others, because they publicly support Dem propaganda and policies.
I think Johnson is wrong in some ways, but not guilty of everything he is accused of on FR.
It’s not fair to single out Johnson.
Trump WON an election on building a wall.
The wall should have been built considering his victory brought Republican majorities to both houses.
Why wasn’t it built?
Because before Speaker Johnson, there was Speaker Ryan and Majority Leader McConnell who infamously declared, “The wall is dead on arrival.”
The Republican wing of the Uniparty sold off and sold out on open borders LONG before Johnson stumbled into the speakership.
They may have lost Eric Cantor along the way, but the House was full of globalist traitors to fill the void, like Ryan and Johnson.
I’m sure there are plenty more if Johnson doesn’t survive.
Well yes he certainly does. Goofy Zeepers just love this flip flopping traitor Cuck Johnson.
Yeah everyone you disagree with is a traitor. Not.
I don’t give a damn about Johnson. I saw him interviewed and he’s conservative. Plus he’s not afraid to refer to God.
Plus Trump is supporting him.
I’ll follow Trump.
