The Nightmare Scenario Of A House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries
Highly Respected ^ | April 18, 2024 | Scott Greer

Posted on 04/19/2024 9:05:53 AM PDT by River Hawk

Things aren’t looking good for House Speaker Mike Johnson. House conservatives are outraged by his commitment to fund Ukraine. They’ve already been upset with his past failures to pass any substantial right-wing legislation. At least two Republicans–Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie–support a motion to vacate against Johnson. If every Democrat votes for it, Johnson is done.

A lot of conservatives wouldn’t be bothered by this. They see Johnson as a traitor and would like him to pay for his failures. Many believe they can get an even better speaker with Johnson gone. This is the exact same kind of thinking that ousted Kevin McCarthy from the speakership last year. Conservatives were thrilled with Johnson’s elevation to the job, believing he would be far superior to his predecessor. Instead, he turned out to be more the same. A few (such as your humble author) predicted this, but were not listened to. So is politics.

However, getting rid of Johnson presents a far greater problem than the previous ouster of McCarthy. This time, it’s possible that the next House Speaker could be Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. When McCarthy was overthrown, the GOP had a small, yet multi-seat majority. Now they just have a one-seat majority. Just a few moderate Republicans—many of them openly furious with the conservative minority within the party’s shrinking majority—need to vote for Jeffries to make him Speaker.

The bigger problem is that a Jeffries-led House could pass amnesty. For all of Johnson’s faults, he made sure the terrible Senate immigration “deal” died. The fact Johnson immediately rejected it and said it wouldn’t make it in the House ruined its chances. But a new House Speaker could revive it—and Jeffries certainly would.

I don’t even care. I’m in a handbasket and I know where I’m going.

Sounds horrible. He might ignore the border, dump billions on Ukraine and 9 billion on the Palestinians, pass Biden’s dream list budget, built the FBI a new HQ, and reauthorize the crooked FBI to conduct warrantless spying on Americans.

Oh wait....

Amnesty will kill social security and medicare.

Government deficits of 1 trillion every 90 days will kill the currency, and the economy.

Basically, the only way for the government to protect the American people is to 1) Balance the budget 2) Get rid of illegal aliens that we can’t afford. Those two things would likely ensure continued social security, disability, and medicare for the elderly and sick.

The Uniparty has other plans. They want to tank the entire thing, declare an ‘emergency’ before the election IF Trump isn’t convicted of something. They can’t let Trump back in, because he is going to hold people accountable.

The Nightmare Scenario Of A House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries

I don't like many of the things Johnson has done, but he is faced with an almost impossible situation and MTG and Massie have to consider what could happen. The law of unintended consequences is the likely outcome. Plus, another Speaker battle hurts GOP prospects in the Fall.

If the republicans join with the communists to install speaker Jeffries, that would prove what I believe about the GOPe. They would rather install Jeffries than do wjat it takes to appease MAGA.

All the cheerleaders for “Maga Mike” can now counter with a list of all his “Conservative accomplishments as Speaker”...

I’ll be waiting to compare it with Pelosi’s and McCarthy’s.

Sometimes thing have to get worse before they have a real chance of getting better.

Someone says under Jeffries Biden’s immigration deal would have passed...well just what the hell do you think we have now, without passing it??

Let’s just be happy we stopped Biden from forgiving student loan debt...oh, wait.

Ukraine Yes. Palestine Yes. US Border Security No.

Just go piss off Maga Mike, the only one with any balls in this “majority” is MTG!

MAGA understands that Johnson cannot impose the right agenda on a dem congress and president, but he hasn’t even TRIED. He should have had enough leverage to get SOME concessions for us.... he hasn’t. He just gives them whatever they ask.
They BADLY want Ukraine money.... he needs to make them pay the price to get it.

When Johnson takes into consideration the law of intended consequences we could talk. With a house majority he has accomplished absolutely nothing. No he cannot force legislation on the Senate, but he can refuse to pass anything unless his voters get some things they want.

He doesn't even try to. He's either a faggot, or a traitor. Probably both.

At least Jeffries won't break all his promises.

I have a lot more respect and trust for a front stabber than I do for a backstabber.

What’s the difference? A RAT, or a Repuke that behaves like a RAT? Both hate America and the tax payers who pay their salary and benefits.

Um no. Social Security and Medicare are ponzi schemes which will fail by design.

FDR, LBJ, and the Dems knew this from the start.

Never mind failure to pass new legislation. I’m fed up that the feckless son of a b!tch failed to use the ONE (but very powerful) LEVER he had — the power of the purse — to FORCE and I mean FORCE Obama... oops I mean Biden to clean up the border, DOJ, IRS, FBI, etc.

If he had MTG’s balls he would have held the line! He lied to us and misrepresented himself as a Christian conservative. He is neither. He is a sellout to the Uniparty. He is behaving like they have some blackmail dirt on him. Sleazy bastard.

I don’t care either.

Maybe it’s time to stand on principle and let the whole thing burn down.
