The first amendment is not to protect speech you agree with, but speech you may not agree with.

In other words the first amendment is protecting us against censorship. This is why any “hate speech” law is unconstitutional. Hate speech laws are just a way to get around the first amendment.

Those in power can define anything as hate speech.

Those in power can define anything as hate speech.

And if allowed to censor it, they inevitably define "hate speech" as anything they happen to disagree with.
