Poll: 74% of Israelis oppose counterstrike on Iran if it harms security alliances
THE TIMES OF ISRAEL ^ | APRIL 18, 2024 | STUART WINER

Posted on 04/18/2024 6:13:31 AM PDT by nwrep

Nearly three-quarters of the Israeli public oppose a retaliatory strike on Iran for its massive missile attack on the country if such action would harm Israel’s security alliance with its allies, according to a poll published Tuesday.

The Hebrew University survey also found that over half the public believes Israel “respond[s] positively” to the military and political demands of allies.

Israel has vowed to retaliate after Iran overnight Saturday fired over 300 missiles and drones at the country. Almost all were intercepted before they reached the country as the United States led a coordinated air defense shield that involved Israeli, American, British, French and Jordanian forces, reportedly along with radar and intelligence input from some Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia.

“Hebrew University” the most leftist institution in Israel.

“THE TIMES OF ISRAEL” the most leftist newspaper in Israel.

Whether the data is accurate or not, you cannot take their word for it.

Alas, it’s a worthless poll for US consumption:

“The Hebrew University survey was conducted April 14-15 by internet and telephone, and sampled 1,466 men and women representing adult Israelis, both Jews and Arabs, the university said in a statement. The margin of error was given as 4.2 percentage points”.

“We need to prevent WWIII by eliminating IRAN’s nuclear program now.”

Believe it or not, we agree.

Ahhhh, polls:

Infallible oracles of all truth when they agree with our prejudices

Dishonest manipulative fake news when they don’t

“Israelis are more level-headed than neocon Republicans, thank G*d”

However, Iran is not level headed and will be emboldened by Israel’s cowardice.

Thankfully, this poll is a crap poll intended to get these results.

Neocon = Military Industrial Complex.

I know, and you know, that that's not what you were after with the use of "neocon".

If your definition of neocon were to be correct (which it isn't), then, it's something that exists in China and Russia and most developed countries with military and industrial complexes; iow, nothing new and nothing wrong.

Israel needs to finish in Gaza.

Not expand the war to more fronts.

Sure,

But with Israel, we are telling them not respond to an attack from Iran.

We are pushing Israel to not advance and withdraw from Gaza, where Hamas launched missiles from.

You are right, we have other issues to contend with, BUT we are today pressuring the Israeli’s to hold back because it serves our interests.

It would be like someone telling us after 9-11 not to respond because they’re worried about “escalation.”

1. They don’t really need the US to flex their military muscle.

Huh?

Who do you think immediately began sending an endless supply of ordnance, including all those bunker busters, for the Gaza invasion?

And who do you think shot down many of those missiles and drones last weekend?

Huh, again.

Both of my claims have been widely reported in mainstream media.

Do you actually deny that the U.S. has been shipping tons of ordnance, including bunker busters, to Israel for the Gaza invasion? Or that U.S. and RAF planes were involved in defending Israel last weekend?

RAF fighter jets shot down Iran drones, Rishi Sunak says.

The UK was one of several countries, including the US, which helped counter Iran's unprecedented attack - its first ever direct strike on Israeli soil.

Additional RAF jets were deployed over Iraq and Syria, not Israel, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.

US sends Israel thousands of 'bunker busters,' bombs for Gaza war - report.

Thanks for the links and info. Looks like we gave more ammo than I realized, and I appreciate the correction. Considering this, do you think the US does, or should, have control over whether Israel responds further?

I think the U.S. should refuse to allow Israel to drag us into a war with Iran.

If the U.S. withdraws all support from Israel, then let Israel do as it wishes.

But as it is, America's "ironclad support" for Israel (as so many politicians, Democrat and Republican, phrase it) means that we're dragged into whatever fight Israel engages in.

I’m in agreement on all that. I’m surprised Biden released that many weapons for them to bomb Gaza, and again appreciate the info. They should however assume that won’t continue if they continue to directly antagonize Iran.
