“I don’t know if it’s true or not. But the spin is that American companies are getting the contracts. They don’t admit to $$$ being spent in Ukraine, as far as I’ve heard.”
That’s also my understanding. The $61B is to mostly cover the amount of money illegally spend (meaning spent without authorization) so that Biden’s people don’t end up in jail, should Trump win.
First world problem.
Guess they better start talking.
Pronounced OOGAH
All the more reason not to give a penny more to Ukraine.
If Russia decides to turn the lights out completely, the war will be over and our elite can move on to fomenting war elsewhere.
In the opening salvo of a missle attack, a certain percentage will be without explosive material. The goal to draw down the oppositions missile defence weapons. Then when they running low like Ukraine is now, go with the real stuff.
We may never know what percentage of what Iran launched at Israel were duds.
[CNN Disinformation] Zelenksy said Iran’s thwarted attack on Israel demonstrated that Western countries were able to protect the skies of their allies.
Unlike Israel, Ukraine is not classified as a Major Non-NATO Ally (MNNA), or quasi-ally. Ukraine does not qualify to be designated as an ally, and this CNN disinformation is the same as that of the NYT yesterday.

Currently 18 countries are designated as MNNAs under 22 U.S.C. §2321k and 10 U.S.C. §2350a :Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Qatar, South Korea, Thailand, and Tunisia.
In addition, Pub. L. 107–228 provides Taiwan shall be treated as an MNNA, without formal designation as such.

The war is over. Without nukes,Ukraine was never going to avoid this. Let what’s left of the country move forward. Russia is not budging.
‘Does the US have plenty of those defensive anti missile missiles queued up and ready to speedily ship to Ukraine to use if only Republicans in Congress would approve the billions?”
No. Total Patriot missile production is 550 per year. Which is being “increased” to 650 per year.
https://www.thedefensepost.com/2024/02/19/lockheed-himars-production-60/?expand_article=1
Total patriot missile production was 10,000 over the last 50 years. It is unknown how many are in inventory, but some would be used every year for training etc.
If the USA goes to war, it will be fighting with 2 patriot missiles a day.
Think of the lives, grief, and treasure that would have been saved if Zelensky hadn’t been talked out of signing the Minsk Agreement.
Ukraine hasnt seen anything yet. The Killing fields are coming to Ukraine like when the Communists murdered millions in Cambodia after Congress cut of aid and “peace” was given a chance in 1975.

But isn’t that foolish? Unless there is a backup/advancement ready to come online in case if war that the Public is unaware of?
Just maybe if z and his high-up ukrainian government chums took the monies that they are spending on villas and estates around the world for their families and friends and bought a couple missiles they would do better. What a corrupt putz.
But isn’t that foolish? Unless there is a backup/advancement ready to come online in case if war that the Public is unaware of?
Shouldn’t we be quadrupling our production NOW?
And ramping up artillery and field pieces?
And millions of all sorts of drones?
I detect no palpable urgency here...

No. None of that is happening.
Patriot missile production is increasing from 500 to 650 per year.
Excalibur (the gps controlled 155mm shell, rocket assist range extender) production is 1000 shells per year, and it has not been increased.
They are struggling to get a new forging press in place to produce more conventional 155mm shells. It won’t be installed until at least the end of 2025.
The Raytheon CEO admitted in the Financial Times that they conldn’t decouple from China because they had thousands of Chinese subcontractors and were dependent on them for parts supply.

Drones have been a known problem for two years, but the Pentagon can’t seem to do anything.

And the Silicon Valley private sector drones are fragile, overpriced junk compared to cheap Chinese drones.
