Just use forklifts to drop the barrels over the rail of the bridge. The protestors can go along with the barrels or not, makes no difference to me.

Show up with chainsaws............................ I have a battery-powered 6-inch portable chainsaw, used for trimming branches. It would be perfect for clearing protesters sitting on the road blocking traffic.
