Two senior Republican lawmakers, the chairs of the House Intelligence and Foreign Affairs committees, say their colleagues are echoing Russian state propaganda against Ukraine.
Researchers who study disinformation say Reps. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, and Michael McCaul, R-Texas, are merely acknowledging what has been clear for some time: Russian propaganda aimed at undermining U.S. and European support for Ukraine has steadily seeped into America’s political conversation over the past decade, taking on a life of its own.
McCaul, chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told Puck News he thinks “Russian propaganda has made its way into the United States, unfortunately, and it’s infected a good chunk of my party’s base.”
Turner, chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, told CNN that anti-Ukraine messages from Russia are “being uttered on the House floor.”
*snip*
Russia, in keeping with traditional propaganda techniques, seeks to make its case and tarnish Ukraine through a mixture of outright falsehoods, half-truths, inferences or simply amplifying and promoting arguments already being made by American or European commentators and politicians, researchers say.
The propaganda is sometimes spread covertly, through fake online accounts, or openly by Russian officials and state media. As a result, the origin of some allegations or criticisms is often opaque, especially when a certain accusation or perception has gained wide acceptance, leaving no clear fingerprints.

Not really. NBC Snooze? Really? LOL
The American Taxpayer should repossess this mansion and any assets Ukraine has such as this. They bellyache for our money and armor, but can afford such assets across the globe? Too many eyes wide shut if this is happening.
This is NBC reporting so to me it means that the stories about Zelensky profiting immensely off of this war are true.
The guy cancels elections in his country and bans political opposition. Are you also cheerleading as Biden tries to put Trump in prison?
YOU NAILED THIS!!!!
Michael McCaul is our representative. A young man with a family opposed him in the primary, just to give us a choice. He was out spent but got his name out for the future.
Michael, IF WE ARE SO WRONG IN OUR ANALYSIS of where we are in America and throwing trillions we don’t have for losing life and wars across the globe, help us understand where we are not getting the right information!!!
May 2024 wake us up so shockingly that we have to return to God-Family-Country and live with Biblical values, morals and ethics. May we know God’s government vs. Satan’s as our spirits KNOW which is good and which is evil.
One thing to remember about propaganda - sometimes it is true, most times it has some basis in truth.
For example, in World War II, for the first three years or so of the war, Nazi propaganda was more truthful than British propaganda. The shift occurred about 1943. The Stalingrad defeat was quickly disclosed, but after that the balance shifted.
In the Ukraine, I tend to discount all reports unless the two sides are saying the same thing.
Excellent post!
Thanks. Excellent.
Excellent analysis!!
Brilliant! You hit all the top Ruzzian talking points in a single essay!

No, the chairs of the House Intelligence and House Foreign Affairs committees are warning us of Russian disinformation. A little better informed than you are.
Biggest dimwit is Marjorie Taylor Greene: "The Ukrainian government is attacking Christians; the Ukrainian government is executing priests. Russia is not doing that; they're not attacking Christianity. As a matter of fact, they seem to be protecting it."
Russian forces kill Ukrainian priest in occupied part of Kherson Oblast-February 16, 2024
Russian forces reportedly killed a Ukrainian priest, Stepan Podolchak, in the town of Kalanchak in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast, the town's military administration said on Feb. 15.
Podolchak was kidnapped from his home two days earlier by Russian forces, representatives from Kalanchak's military administration told the Suspilne media outlet.
"Today, it was discovered that (the Russians) killed the brightest person I was lucky enough to meet in my life," the military administration wrote on Facebook.
According to Suspilne, Podolchak continued to hold services in the Ukrainian language under Russian occupation and refused to be transferred to work under the Moscow Patriarchate.

Bkmk
Ukraine is such a beat story. It is boring. Nothing changes except the ever increasing billions of dollars wasted on a doomed effort.
Go ahead Zeepers tell me how close Ukraine is to winning this war. Or is it losing this war?
Just keep sending money.
Yawn….
Using NBC as a source is no way to win friends here.
To be accurate, they are asking for weapons and wars can last for years(WW2). Our war for independence lasted 8 years.
We are a funny country, in Iraq and Afghanistan we were desperately looking for allies to fight our enemies, in Ukraine we have willing fighters, but now we are tired of supporting them.
Get ready for widespread acquisition of nuclear weapons by Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, or any country that feels threatened as the only real guarantee against foreign invasion.
