Russia's army is now 15% bigger than when it invaded Ukraine, says US general

Russia's armed forces have grown larger and not dwindled during its war in Ukraine, a top US general said on Wednesday.

"The army is actually now larger — by 15 percent — than it was when it invaded Ukraine," US Army Gen. Christopher Cavoli, NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, told the House Armed Services Committee in a hearing.

"Over the past year, Russia increased its front-line troop strength from 360,000 to 470,000," Cavoli continued, adding that the bolstered numbers stemmed from Russia raising its conscription age from 27 to 30.

The increase, Cavoli said, meant that Russia was able to enlarge "the pool of available military conscripts by 2 million for years to come."

"In sum, Russia is on track to command the largest military on the continent," Cavoli said in his opening statement to Congress.

"Regardless of the outcome of the war in Ukraine, Russia will be larger, more lethal, and angrier with the West than when it invaded," he added.

The article leaves out a key detail: the increase in size, strength, and capability of the Ukrainian military during the same period.

The Ukrainians have demonstrated much greater strength, tactical and strategic planning, innovation in weapons and use, (as demonstrated by the degradation of the Russian Black Sea fleet), than they had before the war started.

It is a horrible war for both sides, with terrible casualties. But Russia appears to be losing more manpower and material than the Ukrainians. Hard to see how this works out better for either side. But the Chinese are becoming much stronger compared to the Russians.

More.
They want war over Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine.
A three front war.
While also fomenting regime change in Israel because the morons in charge of DC think that’s just the bee’s knees.

I googled operation Barbarossa.

Unlike in WWII-Russia’s GDP is commensurate with a regional gas station chain with a per capita income of $15,000/person.

This is not the USSR.

This is the most contrived war in global history,

US energy policy is paying for Putin’s war and US tax dollars are paying for Ukraine’s war.

It will end as soon as US energy policy ceases to pay for all war on earth. Russia and Iran will be back on skid row. Putin will be begging for global oil production cuts like in 2017 neither nation able to threaten a swarm of gnats.

As posted above, like magic-Business insider etc.....will declare that Putin got exactly the outcomes that he was going for all along.

All armies grow larger when they go to war. This is never only one way in favor of one side and harming the other. The Ukrainian military has grown to match the Russian military. Except the difference is for Russia compared to Ukraine, is that a larger proportion of that increase is six feet underground now.

I care about paying $5/gal for gas and 17 cents per kilowatt and coincidentally funding all war on earth thanks to climatescam.

Not only because it makes me poorer but this war and the Iranian BS isn’t stopping until both nations are sent back to the poor house with reasonable energy policy.

Whether we like it or not.

If they have even been recovered and buried, by not collecting the bodies they are listed as missing, and they don’t have to pay families benefits

Nice bunch of guys, maybe a fit cot for wives and mothers will take care of it

But then again PETA will send a strongly worded letter to Putin, well maybe some sausages, damn can’t do that either

If the Neocons and the Chicago Boys hadn't backstabbed the Russians after the Wall came down, then it would be the US, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and Russia uniting economically to keep China at bay.

Instead we have an increasingly Islamified Western Europe at war with Russia which is uniting with China to keep the US at bay.

I'm so glad that US leadership is based on a meritocratic system, i.e. the best and the brightest from the Ivies and similar. Or rather the dim bulbs with the best connections from once great institutions of learning.

Our future is certainly not bright. Imagine three more generations of non merit based hirings.
We already can’t build the Naval ships necessary, and can’t fill military staffing.

I would have preferred live in a country during its ascendancy…

Getting interesting in Switzerland now - seems they’re going to have a referendum as to whether to continue to go down with the Ukrainian Ship, or go back to their 500+ year neutrality. Don’t know the polling on this, but DEFINITELY a good sign that SANITY might be returning to Europe.
