Those are great! Yeah, our mulberries sucked at making crescents, too. I saw that Mark from HurricaneTrack was going to do thisd in Maine and thought...could work. And it did!! Hubby held it for me while I took the shot.
I don’t have a colander and don’t have enough hands to pull off getting a shot with one. LOL It does work quite well though.
I wanted to get a shot or two after the maximum when the crescents wouldn’t be so slivery, but the clouds moved right back in and that was all she wrote. I got lucky to see what I saw. Still have my glasses from the 2017 eclipse.
I wish I could have taken off to get under the path this time. It’s such an awesome experience. At least I’ve gotten to see one total eclipse and that has to suffice.

Raining now but you had a mighty pretty day for your outing yesterday. Gizmo had a great time by the looks of things. A good smelly spot to roll in makes his day. LOL
From the videos I saw it looked like night in Dallas Texas for awhile then back to sun again. We were not in the path of totality but it did feel a little bit like morning than it did afternoon here.
It was fun to watch on TV though. We saw the eclipse from a number of places on Youtube.(telescope version with no commentary courtesy NASA)
Well, you got some really great crescents! I didn’t even know there was such a thing , but when Mark was here for our partial eclipse last year, he had a camera set up to get a video of them through a tree on our university parking lot. I thought is was so cool. I really had never paid that much attention to eclipses. Mark’s enthusiasm was contagious. :) He loves anything weather-related.
Steve had a great stream on the eclipse today. He used footage from NASA and other sources to show the progression from the time it first hit land in Mazatlan Mexico until it was completely over in Burlington, VT. Kinda fun.
If there’s a smelly spot, he’ll find it. LOL
It didn’t get too dark here, either, but it was still cool to watch what we got. It was about the same as you got. I wasn’t sure if we’d see the sun at all but the clouds opened up for maybe a half hour at just the right time, then we lost sight of the sun again.
I did see a little of the totality on tv when I came back in and I envied the folks who were in the path. I would have loved to have experienced it again but at least I’ve gotten to experience it once, and I’ll never forget it.
I discovered the crescents by accident in ‘94 when we had a partial eclipse. I didn’t have the special glasses back then so had my piece of cardboard with a hole in it and used the sidewalk to see the sun on.
The sun was shining through the leaves of a holly tree and the shadows were cast on the sidewalk too. It dawned on me they looked funny and when I looked closely, there were all these cool little crescents.
We had a partial eclipse last year, I believe it was, and it was on a museum day. I took my glasses with me too step outside to check it out between tours. I walked out with a couple I’d just finished taking through and asked if they’d like to use the glasses to see the sun, and they did. Another couple with a young daughter walked up about that time and they looked too. Then I took them all over to a spot where the sun was casting leaf shadows on the pavement and there were the crescents. None of them had ever seen that before so they were all excited.
Speaking of the museum, I’ll head up there Wed. for a group tour that’s scheduled. I’m sooooo glad there’s a tour. I’ll tag along to listen to Da Boss give his spiel to get an idea of his mindset for the new arrangement. Then I’ll have time to put my own together and be ready to rock ‘n’ roll when we reopen.
I pray it doesn’t rain on that Saturday opening weekend. The man who owns those gorgeous Civil War cannon replicas plans to roll them out to shoot them that day. Been waiting for him to do that since he took them to the museum two years ago. You know how I love big “BOOMS”. LOL
I was worried I wasn’t going to get a chance to do it before we reopen. I know what’s in there but I really don’t understand the new arrangement and how best to present as we go through. Some of the others are in the same boat. LOL Once I get a feel for why he did this, I’ll be good to go.
Plus, it’s a good excuse to get up there a little sooner. :-) I miss it so much!
I don’t know if he’ll allow anyone to light the cannons but if he’s game for it, I AM THERE!!
I hope Devon is there to give rides in his British APC like last year. If I get a chance to fire a cannon AND get to ride in that beasty again, my feet won’t touch the ground for a week. LOL
I hope you get both your wishes. That museum has been your salvation as well as your most fun thing to do!

I hope so, too, though with either one, it all hinges on the weather. We’ll be open, no matter what, but the extra fun won’t happen if it rains. I’m looking forward to seeing all the people who show up and that’ll make it a great weekend.
I’ll be here for a short time tomorrow evening. I do have to get up early but not at the crack of dawn. It won’t be long though.

Let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
I was so excited to put on my new glasses for the first time, but after just a few hours I wanted to throw them away. My eyes ached and head throbbed from adjusting to the new prescription. My ears were sore from the unfamiliar frames. The next day I groaned when I remembered I had to wear them. I had to repeatedly choose to use my glasses each day in order for my body to adjust. It took several weeks, but after that, I hardly noticed I was wearing them.
Putting on something new requires an adjustment, but over time we grow into it, and it suits us better. We may even see things we didn’t see before. In Romans 13, the apostle Paul instructed Christ followers to “put on the armor of light” (v. 12) and practice right living. They had already believed in Jesus, but it seems they had fallen into “slumber” and become more complacent; they needed to “wake up” and take action, behave decently and let go of all sin (vv. 11-13). Paul encouraged them to be clothed with Jesus and become more like Him in their thoughts and deeds (v. 14).
We don’t begin to reflect the loving, gentle, kind, grace-filled, and faithful ways of Jesus overnight. It’s a long process of choosing to “put on the armor of light” every day, even when we don’t want to because it’s uncomfortable. Over time, He changes us for the better. .
