HUDSON, Wis. — Investigators say video from July 2022 shows Nicolae Miu being pushed and hit by a group of tubers on the river before he stabbed five people, killing 17-year-old Isaac Schuman. The victims ranged in age from 17 to 24 and were from Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The trial for a 54-year-old Prior Lake man accused of killing a teen and stabbing four others on the Apple River in Wisconsin nearly two years ago began on Monday.
Witnesses said Miu was initially in the river with goggles and a snorkel. A group of tubers accused of him of looking at young girls underwater, but Miu told investigators he was looking for a friend's missing cellphone.

If you have a chance to walk away, it’s always best to do so.
I’ve watched most of this from the beginning.
But after hearing the details, it’s not as open an shut as one woukd think.
Those kids were drunk, high and provoked a response by actually assaulting him.....did that provocation justify him pulling a knife and stabbing 5 people killing one?
That’s the jury’s job to decide.
On Friday it was revealed that once he stabbed them he left and had to be located......that’s not a good look for someone proclaiming innocence.
I suspect he’s going to prison but it won’t be 1st degree murder.
I didn’t see him being given that chance, from the video clip. They had decided that he was peeping on the girls, & nothing was going to dissuade them from that belief. The option to walk away is one that is available for both sides, not just one side only. They surrounded him preventing him from doing as you suggest. The fact that you fashioned your response as you did; If you have a chance, indicates to me that you are unsure yourself if he was actually afforded that opportunity.
I was speaking in principle. Always walk away if you can from a group trying to antagonize you.
If he was not afforded the opportunity, then it’s self defense.
When it happens to you, be sure to just walk away from greater numbers shoving you down to water level.
People here have taken time to watch the extended video out on telegream? It paints the complete picture.
I’ve been at the bottom of the pile a few times and lucky to be alive and fairly intact
If you and your people greatly outnumber someone and go after them don’t be surprised if they assume their life is at risk
I saw the prosecutor video and it showed he could have walked away before the stabbing started. The two women were telling him to go away but he ended up punching one in the face. That’s when the chaos really started. People need to understand that you never know what will happen when you decide to get in a fight. A guy just got shot 18 times on the side of the highway. He got into an argument with another driver and both vehicles pulled off to the side of the road. They both got out of their vehicles and when they got within a few feet from each other one guy pulled his gun and unloaded it into the other driver. Just a senseless loss of life. One guy is dead and another is going to prison for life
Well, I must have missed that interaction. If that happened then my opinion changes. I did hear someone state, oh so now you punch a female, but I had no context on which to judge that statement. Those who are judging the case will have to make the decision. The person I was responding to even said if, indicating to me that they were unsure if the opportunity for him to walk away existed. For me there was not enough of the action shown to make a conclusive determination as to how this situation spiraled way beyond what it should have.
