As Russia steps up airstrikes and once again advances on the battlefield in Ukraine more than two years into its bloody invasion, there is no end to the fighting in sight. And President Volodymyr Zelensky’s options for what to do next — much less how to win the war — range from bad to worse.
Zelensky has said Ukraine will accept nothing less than the return of all its territory, including land that Russia has controlled since 2014. But with the battle lines changing little in the last year, militarily retaking the swaths of east and south Ukraine that Russia now occupies — about 20 percent of the country — appears increasingly unlikely.
Negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war — something Zelensky has rejected as long as Russian troops remain on Ukrainian land — is politically toxic.

Steiner is mobilizing his army as we speak.
Negotiation is apparently out of the question. Pretty crappy way to run a war.
He might not survive this and use his yachts.
Oh well.
The only way for Zelensky to save this situation is to somehow ;pull NATO into this war.
We are at the place of maximum danger now. Because there are elements of the Deep State in the West who also want to enter the war.
Suppose Ukraine does accept a negotiated peace, leaving Russia in control of Donbas and Crimea?
How will that give them security, given Russia’s known long-term goals?
If we had allowed Russia to acquire Russian majority areas around Russia, as Putin claimed was his agenda, then we could have made it negotiable to allow this for the understanding that even an inch further would have given us the legal rights to respons militarily with all resources that are at our disposal. That was the most peaceful option that we had.
Bwahahaha! The lines from that movie have aged very well.
“We are at the place of maximum danger now. Because there are elements of the Deep State in the West who also want to enter the war.”
_________
Ya think! We started this war and neither Russia or Ukraine will be allowed to it. Our only hope for ending this war is President Trump 2024/47.
allowed to *end* it.
“... would have given us the legal rights to respons militarily ...”
What is this ‘we/ us’ shiite ?!
Don’t be a dumbSchiff
“Our only hope for ending this war is President Trump 2024/47.”
‘Our hope’—and Zelensky’s...
“respons militarily with all resources that are at our disposal”
Nuclear war, eh? For Ukraine? Ha!
I personally don’t care if the Soviet Union reforms, but many people here do. All I was saying is that allowing Russia to repatriate Russians gives him what he claims he wants, while creating a legal basis for a legit war, instead of what we have which may turn into a world war anyway.
I was just giving what I thought was the most peaceful option.
Another billion U.S. tax dollars will fix it after the first 200+ did not!
Security for an Ukraine is apparently a non issue, only “security” for Russia is.
To the usuals here and Putin(Humm) that one issue, what putin sees as necessary for Russian security, is the only justification he needs to do whatever wants.
The reality is Russia was not threatened, has had NATO on its border for years, freely trading with the west, and at least putin and his chosen were getting wealthy.
All those claiming “peace” negotiations is the only “reasonable” scenario know that Putin and Russia are not in a good place, neither is Ukraine, but the position putin has created for himself is not good.
Interesting this article is posted right after a large attack on Russian bases was just completed.
Obviously the act of a country without options/s
But Russian Egg prices are still slightly elevated though
Negotiating with Russians is pointless. As one Finnish diplomat put it: They steal $100 from you. You confront them about it and they give back $20 and say "See? We made a concession".
