NBC News, or, as Greg Gutfeld aptly calls the mainstream media outlet, “Nothing But Crap,” recently outdid even itself in promulgating misleading information. A weekend report strongly implied that Florida is a veritable hellhole from which residents are fleeing at a remarkable rate. The outlet claimed that “a perfect storm of soaring insurance costs, a hostile political environment, worsening traffic, and extreme weather” had caused people to abandon the Sunshine State in droves.
And they based that claim on interviews with “more than a dozen recent transplants and longtime residents who left the state in the past two years.” More than a dozen! That’s over twelve! You’ve gotta be kidding me. Did a third-grader write that? You could get 13 or 14 people to agree that the Earth is flat or that Joe Biden is a Rhodes Scholar.
Here is a recent post on X:
The Sunshine State isn’t always as sunny as it may seem. Hundreds of thousands of new residents have flocked to Florida with the promise of beautiful weather and no income tax. But nearly 500,000 left in 2022, according to most recent Census data.

Catch that? Hundreds of thousands have moved to Florida, but almost half a million left in 2022 alone. NBC apparently forgot to mention that roughly 700,000 moved to Florida in 2022. Florida had 2% net growth that year, highest among all states. And Florida is second only to Texas in actual numbers moving in.

R registrations in Florida now exceed D by 851,000. The Ds have gone from +950,000 in 1988 to -851,000 Tiday. My county is now R majority for the first time in history.
The panhandle is one of the fastest growing places in America.
You don’t have to worry about stepping in human feces when you walk on their sidewalks.
For libs that’s probably a negative.
bkmk
So, people are leaving because there is too much traffic?! That is almost a Yogi Berra-ism… “nobody goes there anymore; it’s too crowded.”
Since Florida is Heaven’s waiting room, perhaps many of those who have “left” Florida left everywhere, permanently.
I wonder how many of those "500,000" didn't leave, but died. NBC likes to skew data.
BTW, there are more housing starts in my neighborhood this year than in any of the other ten years we've been here (damn construction crews block the roads!).
And of those "500,000", how many were Lefties getting out (a good thing!).
Pathetically, if hilariously, the selfsame misinformation outlet NBC ran a piece less than six months ago headlined, “Florida is booming and burning more trash. Residents say it’s making them sick” in which it noted that “more people equals more garbage.”
See here:
I haven’t heard or read that mentioned anywhere else, but it certainly vividly illustrates that NBC wants it both ways and, not unlike many other “news” purveyors, will take every opportunity to slander Florida, even if it has to make stuff up. Because DeSantis, Trump, and Republicans.
Of course, what’s happening is this — the average liberal and lefties CANNOT STAND Florida policies under Ron DeSantis and CANNOT STAND the fact that Trump lives in Florida.
Essentially, Florida has been shedding Democrats. And if you’ve paid attention to what Democrat policies have done to the nation lately, that’s a good thing — at least for Florida and Floridians.
I think a lot of the people leaving are liberals who are in the ever growing minority of voters, which is fine let them leave and make Florida even more red
One day Trump and the Pope were having lunch on a yacht anchored in Biscane Bay. A strong gust of wind swept across the water and blew the Pope hat off his head and into the water. Trump immediately said: "Don't worry, Your Eminence, I'll retrieve your hat."
Trump vaulted over the yacht's railing, landed gently on the water, and started walking over to the Pope's hat. He picked up the hat, turned around, and proceeded to walk back to the ship. Upon reaching the ship, he flexed his knees and jumped back onto the ship and handed the miter back to the Pope.
The next day, the front page headline across the world was: "Trump can't swim!"
The “press” does this every week - pick a topic they think they can bash Trump on and usually it comes out of Dem operatives whom they worship. Last week, it was that the people that keep moving to Red States are regretting it and long to return to the bums living on the sidewalks and the accompanying crime, trash and feces and empty storefronts. This week, it is some leftwing nut “pastors” who are citing the dangers of Trump and his “radical” Christian followers. It is all from the same stained, lying script.
it’s called ‘Snow Birds”- people move to florida in winter, then leave in summer- been happening for eons!
Every day
“news” purveyors
More like propaganda purveyors
With any luck though, it is liberals who are leaving because they feel ‘so threatened by florida’s ‘don’t say gay’ agenda” LOL- IF they are, then flrodia is doing it’s best to clean out the riff raff wokesters, and succeeding marvelously-

Do not come here! It’s horrible! Dead bodies rotting in the streets! The beaches are covered in tar, oil and dead fish! The skies a full of mosquitoes the size of buzzards and they will kill your babies! It is a awful place to raise your kids! The schools actually teach math, history and science! People can’t wait to leave!........................

There’s a lot of Florida envy/resentment, I think. Sometimes it even appears in this forum….
