When you look for one statement, somewhere, that someone made, take it out of context, extrapolate it in meaning, and ignore the fact that hot heads right now are making all sorts of big statements on BOTH sides, you can find this sort of junk to use as an argument.
Go look at some of the statements made by US Congressmen and media pundits post 9-11 where we had folks advocate the use of nukes, invading Iran, disposing of the king of Saudi Arabia, booting all Muslims from the US, closing Mosques...
No, Russia doesn’t even want all of Ukraine. That would be a nightmare for them no different than us in Afghanistan (on hostile ground). They are however interested in those areas we pretend do not even exist in our non-propagandist and always factual media, the largely ethic Russian areas.
Russia isn’t even close to capable of being the sort of threat they were in the Cold War and threatening a broad far reaching invasion of the West... All this blabbering about Russia invading this and that is idiotic trash talk for the ignorant masses. What are the Russians going to do that with? A military that now in a war and with mobilization is STILL smaller than ours, with less and weaker allies, with less industrial capacity, less population, less high tech...?
Russia has the means of meeting their limited military and political objectives in Ukraine, but even that is difficult for them. The idea that they are going to continue and go for more is simply put, nonsense. That is political BS our politicians spew in order to get support for this war they caused. But it’s not even remotely feasible.
Why do they say they do, then? Medvedev was just repeating what's been part of the Muskovite catechism for centuries. Putin said as much to that fool Carlson. I've posted at least three other sources. Do I need to repeat?
