The waterway bridge, on the other hand, looked like it would withstand a large bass boat or a small tug, but not a full-grown cargo ship. And when something like that is coming out, it's moving slower than one coming from the ocean side.
One thing that makes a terror attack less likely; you'd expect a terror attack when the bridge is full of passenger cars, not empty at 1AM.

You’ll see hundreds of videos of big ships plowing into stuff—other ships, boats, riverbanks, shipyards, docks, knocking over giant cranes with guys up in the control gantry and below getting killed and squashed. People plowed down by giant waves when ships are launched, canal locks getting rammed and broken, eve dams breached.

In the chase for corporate profits, multinational financial gains and enrichment of the coffers, the USA and proverbial West deindustrialized.
We outsourced our manufacturing to foreign nations. Those same multinational institutions, and the politicians they control, are now facing the consequences of their greed.
And now the Car companies who are trying to outsource to Mexico will be soon having to deal with Chinese cars "assembled' in Mexico an imported to the U.S.
The economics of firms hiring staff in the U.S. having to pay for OSHA/401(k)/Health Insurance, etc. make the average American TOO expensive to hire.
How will this turn out for out children / grandchildren ?
I've long thought one of the reasons for making bigger and bigger machines was the glorious crash when it broke. (Yeah, I was one of those little kids would run my tricycle into things, then sit there and laugh...)
