Amid warnings about “Christian nationalism,” the number of voters who view the U.S. government as a threat to religious liberty has sharply increased.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 56% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the federal government today is a threat to Americans' religious rights, more than double the 26% who consider the government a protector of religious rights. Seventeen percent (17%) are not sure. In 2017, 39% viewed the federal government as a protector of religious rights and 38% saw it as a threat.
